J Burt & Brothers company, mot with qulto a serious mishap last evening as he crossed Twenty-fouith street at tho intersection of Washington avenue He was knocked down b an amateur bicyclist, striking heavily on tho pavo-ment, pavo-ment, the blow rendering him unconscious uncon-scious for a fow moments As Mr. Burt approached the First National Na-tional bank building, crossing Twenty-fourth street from the south side, 1 a young girl came down the hill on a bicycle at a tei rifle rate of speed, un-obsened un-obsened by Mr Burt. The girl Btated that sho was learning to ride and that she had become excited when she started down the steep grade and completely lost control. The wheel struck Mr Burt on tho right side and hurled him to the sidewalk. side-walk. He was assisted to a doctor's office in the bank building whore his wounds were dressed It was discovered dis-covered that ho had suffered a deep gash in the back of tho head which required a number of stitches. The young girl escaped injury. |
