The Salt Lake high school football team sprung a surprise yesterday by defeating tho Ogden high school by the one-sided scoro of 33 to 0. Tho game was played In tho snow on Cum-mlngs Cum-mlngs field, but It did not stop fast playing, as the sun had not mado the field muddy and sloppy. The air was crisp and snappy and the men kept going to keep warm. The crowd was large In splto of the snow, and tho Ogden rooters wore down in a big bunch, but their men could not stop the speed that tho high school men showed. Their only excuse was "too much Salt Lake." The Ogden team was rather slow and after tho llrst touchdown did not seem to have the lighting spirit that has won them so many games before. Moran, tho star quarterback was not as fast as he has been and ho did not run his team as ho has done in the past. The Salt Lako lino was liko a stone wall on defense, and on offense found no trouble In breaking through it at will. At times Ogden took a brace and showed speed, but wnB unable to get around the ends. Some fumbling marred the game nt times, but considering con-sidering tho sllpperyness of the field it was not as bad as expected. Coach Richardson was confident of victory, but ho did not look for as one-sided a game as was played. The Ogden team was unable at any time to solve the formations Salt Lake sprung The Salt Lako halfbacks were tho stars of the game, and Olsen never mado less than five yards after receiving the ball. Mclntyre had hlfl kicking boots on and he sent the ball over the heads of the Ogden men most of the time. Stowe, the Ogden punter, showed poor form The Salt Lake ends had no troublo at any time In getting down on the punts and Cahoon, the Salt Lake center, never missed a try at belug the man to tackle the man In his tracks or to fall on the ball. The stars of the game for Ogden wore Evans and Allan, who were the only ground gainers that Ogden had. Game In Detail. Mclntyre won the toss and chose the north goal. Moran kicked off to HIgson, who received the ball on the 20-yard line and ran for ten yards. Ward wa9 sent against the line for no gain and then Olsen circled the end for ten yards Ward kicked to Evans, who was downed In his tracks. Moran made one yard on the end and then he gained twenty yards around tho end. Stowe kicked out of bounds at the 60-yard line, and the ball went to Salt Lake. Ward went around the end for ten yards, Brecken hit tho line for five yards Mclntyre kicked to Moran, who received re-ceived the ball on the 20-yard line. Stowe kicked out of bound and the ball was put In play on Ogden's 30-vard 30-vard fine. Gallachor failed to make any gain on the end and Olsen tried the line for three yards Ward missed a drop kick and Ogden put tho ball In scrimmage from the 25-yard line Tribe made no gain on the end anl Evans was thrown back one vard. Stowe kicked out of bounds and tho ball was put on the 35 -yard line Mclntyro made a gain of fifteen yards pn the end. Olsen was sent through tho Hno for fifteen yards and then gained a yard on the end. Ward gained Qvo yards and put the ball on tho nine-yard line. Olsen went through the line for a touchdown after af-ter nine minutes of play. Mclntyre missed goal Score. 5 to 0 Moran kicked off and Houtz received re-ceived the ball on the 30-yard line Wilson went around the end for fifteen fif-teen yards and Ward mado a yard through the line. Mclntyre ran around the ond for two yards. Mclntyre fumbled and Evans recovered the ball. Moran mado three yards through the line and Stowe kicked to Ward on tho -15-vard line. HIgson carried the ball for a gain of ton yards. Salt I ake was penalized for hurdling on the partvof Mclntyre. Ward klckel to Evans, who was downed on the 50-yard line. Evans was sent around the end for three yards Moran made no gain. Stowe kicked out of hounds on the 50-yard line. Olsen forward passed to Mclntyre, Mc-lntyre, who gained ten yards. Olsen hit tho line for four vards and Wilson two more around the end. In the second quarter Olsen made tho second touchdown after five minutes min-utes of play. Mclntyre kicked the goal. Score, 11 to 0. Moran kicked to Gallachor, who advanced the ball twenty yards, and after a seriCB of end runs Olsen put the ball on tho G5-yard G5-yard line. Ward kicked to Moran. who Rot away for a sensational run rt fifty yards, but was downed on Salt Lako's 20-ynrd line. This was the onlv time that Salt Lake's goal was in danger After Ogden could do nothing through the Salt Like line It kicked to Gallacher, who received tho ball on tho 30-yard line and took It down tho field for thirty yords, placing it on the ten-yard line Ward circled the end for a touchdown and Mclntyro missed goal. Score, 16 to 0. Moran kicked off and Salt Lako carried the ball up the field on forward for-ward passe and a series of end runs and Olson went over for a touchdown. Mclntyre kicked goal. Score, 22 to 0. Second Half. Ogden took a brace In the third quarter and held Salt Lake down to one touchdown, which was made after ten minutes of play. After an exchange ex-change of punts the ball wan put on the 10-yard line and Ward went over for a touchdown and Mclntyro kicked goal. The quarter ended with tho ball In tho center of the field. Durlnsr this quarter Roberg was takon out of on account of slugging Houtz, tho Salt Lake tackle, and Edwards took f his place Mclntyre was penalized again In this quarter for hurdling, and both teams were penalized once for off-side plays. After tho touch down was mado Ogden braced and made tho dpwns twice and kicked to Ward, who brought tho ball back to tho center of tho field, ending the quarter. Score, 2S to 0. Fourth Quarter, Tho fourth quarter was a series of punts, In which Mclntyro outklcked Stowe Ogden made a few gains and after recovering a fumble kicked to Gallachor, who ran fifty-five yards through a broken llpe for a touchdown. touch-down.
