Show DESERTED ON WEDDING DAY. Salt Lake, April 2. Samuel D. Lee's search for his youthful bride, who deserted him on the day of their marriage, ended yesterday when Detectives De-tectives Rlley M. Bockstcad and Edward Ed-ward Jannoy ascertained boyond a doubt that she had left for Los Angeles An-geles on the day of the wedding. Thoy learned this from one who know her woll and who on that date wont on the Salt Lake Route with her as far as Caliente, "Nov. ' The information informa-tion says that the young woman talked freely of what she had done and of her plans for the future and showed a ticket for Lob Angelos, which she purchased and put into use immediately after leaving her husband. Some suspicion was aroused yesterday yester-day when Grace Cartier, who is under bond on a white slave charge, sent Lee a note in which she stated that she would tell him what she knew for ?50. The police are of the opinion opin-ion thnt the Cartler.woman was mero-ly mero-ly trying to "work"' the old man for some money and really knowB nothing noth-ing Last evening this opinion was strengthened when Lee called the police po-lice up and told them that the woman wo-man had been to soe him and had said that she knew nothing "The woman loft here of her own accord," said Detective Bockstead jeateiday '"She io not held by anybody any-body hero and I do not see that wo have anything further to do with the case." |
