Show oo SARAH M. CANNON CALLED BY DEATH Salt Lake. March 14, Death called MrB. Sarah M. Cannon, wlfo of Angus M. Cannon, former president of Salt Lake stake in the the Mormon churcb, at her home In Forest Dale early yeP-terday yeP-terday morning. Mrs. Cannon would havo been eighty-four years old next July, and the greater part of her long span of life was spent in Utah. The end had been expected for several sev-eral days, tho aged woman having entered into an Inevitable decline three weeks ago Death was duo to tho intimities of advanced years, though she retalnpd full possession of her mental powers until a few hours beforo tho end. About "her bod-were bod-were many of her Immediate family. , -. Cannon was born in Conter-vlllo, Conter-vlllo, Del., July 21, 1S28. With her parents and brothers and sisters she came to Utah In one of the hand cart companies that arrived in the vallej in 1857. A year later she married Angus Jr. Cannon and lived with him in Salt Lake for the next three years. When the church leaders decided to send parties to settle southern Utah, Mt. and Mrs. Cannon accom- panied the party that made its way Into what is now Washington county I and founded St. George, of which j town Angus M. Cannon was tho first mayor. The family lhed there until 1SS7 and tben returned to Salt Lake. : Mrs. Cannon was the mother of bIx children, two of whom died in infancy. infan-cy. The surviving children are George M. Cannon, the well known real estate es-tate dealer, John M. Cannon, also of Salt Lake; Mrs. Leonora C. Stewart, wlfo of Barnard J. Stewart, and Miss Anna M. Cannon, who cared for her ' mother for many years and was in constant attendance during the last Illness. ' |
