Show MONUMENTS IN AMERICAN CITIES ARE MISPLACED Xow York, Fob. 1. American cities habitually show deplorable artistic Ignorance Ig-norance In locating their public mon uments, according to a report by Dr. John Quincy Adams of the Municipal ArtcomniIs"sIou, to the National Arts club. "In most cases," he says, "the monument mon-ument is not designed for a specific site. When completed It Is submitted for a definite spot which In most instances in-stances is selected, not because It suits the character of the monument, but because it -Is conspicuous, as for example, at the junction of two or moro important streets or in a prominent prom-inent placo in one of the chief squaros or parks. 00 |
