A new aspirant aspir-ant for government recognition In connection con-nection with a celebration of the opening open-ing of the Panama canal in 1915 appeared ap-peared before the Senate committco on industrial expositions today. This was Washington, D. C. Representing certain trade bodies of the city, former District Commissioner H. B. McFar-land McFar-land urged tho appointment of a commission com-mission of nine members which should devise a plan for an official celebration, celebra-tion, distinct fro the exposition to be held at San Francisco or New Orleans. Governor Sauderg, of Louisiana, whom illness had prevented from ap- i pouring before the committee until ' today, presented a petition for the i recognition of New Orleans as the ' Panama canal exposition city. San ! Francisco wa3 heard from, too, Theodore Theo-dore Bell of that city urging Its claims.
