interesting put t 0 of f hla his report BO so fur far ag as it relates to 0 o the university and the local feeling i i the sam small matter dr ilaff said 1 I learned from the minutes read at the first board meeting after my iaia blat sam small had been elected president that only five of the nine trustees were present and thauna meeting wai hastily held on the platform of the union depot at ogden 1 I also learned from other sources that three of the absent directors myself included had no notice of the meeting and that the bishop in in charge of the mission had not been consulted the annial annual meeting met in in salt lake city june at 1 bishop ninda ninde presiding the tb e mission was much agitated over the th Is election of mr small and the hasty way it was brought abo at bishop ni ninde in d gave rave the matter careful consideration idera tion he ile saw clearly the embarrassment barras barra and at the first meeting of the committee on education by request of the committee made plain that in bis his judgment president small e should hould resign in the interests of harmony and the good of the university the opposition to this i MTV stion by those who had selected W gruvall small was determined later the bishop counci led that probably the best way out of the difficulty wai was for the committee on education and the mission to approve the action of the five trustees in electing mr small the whole matter was thoroughly dis die cussed in the committee and on the conference floor and the following was finally adopted dually resolved that we unanimously ilive i 0 on oar r band hand and heart to president small assuring him that we shall support rrt him all we can by our money influence nf a aenice and faith for the success of the university although
