President Wilson, returning to Washington Wash-ington in a state of nervous exhaus tion from his interrupted speech making mak-ing lour was described today as feeling feel-ing "about the same" after a night in which he was able to get considerable rest. Just before the presidential special reached Indianapolis late In the lure-noon, lure-noon, Dr Carey T. Grayson, Mr Wil-j Wil-j son's personal physician, Issued the i toilowing bulletin ' The president's condition is about the same. He has had a fairly restful rest-ful night (Signed) "GRAYSON." This was all the phvsuian car' d to add to his statement of last nigni, in which he said Mr Wilson s indisposi tion was not alarming, although a con- siderable period of rest would be nec-Jessary nec-Jessary to recovery. It was learned, however, that the I president had slept during much of i the night and until late in the morn-' morn-' lng He had been more or less rest-j rest-j less in the evening, and Dr. Grayson spent the night in an adjoining room on the private car, Mayflower, did not get to bed until a late hour. It was thought likely that Mr. Wil son will not be permitted to leave bis bed much during the dav, m view of I Dr. Grayson's rest prescription. That he was able to get some sleep was interpreted as a good omen, the evl i dent concern of those nearest, him being be-ing to get his mind entirely away from the subjects which have occupied bis 'energies during recent months Besides Dr. Grayson. Mrs WIlSOO was in constant attendance upon the president during the night and again today. She was. also able to get some rest, however, and seemed refreshed from the apparent strain of the last lew da - The train arrived at Indianapolis at 10:38 and left at 10:51 a m. His speaking tour for the peace treats interrupted in-terrupted by illness and exhaustion, President Wilson is on his way back to Washington today to take a complete rest on the order of his physician. His special train, shunted off from its on -inal schedule yesterday noon al Wil hita, Kans., was routed direct for the capital and had fhp right of wav for a continuous run at the great si speed consistent with absolute safety It crossed the Mississippi at St. Louis early in the day and was to be well across the Ohio by nightfall It is due at Washington tomorrow morning Under the constant care of nr. Gray-sou, Gray-sou, his physician, the president was de crlbed as resting comfortably. Having secured some sleep during dur-ing the late afternoon yesterday, Mr. Wilson sat up In the ev ning- and did not again try to sleep until late at night. Before midnight, however, his bed chamber was dark Mrs Wll3on also had retired to ber room. The president's illness, although brought to a head bj his exertion on his speaking tour, is ascribed by Dr. Grayson in large part to the attack of iufluenza from which Mr. Wilson suffered last April In Parli On that occasion he was confined to bed for several days, but be continued his conference con-ference with other members of the "hlg four." consulting with them at lis bedside about critical problems of the peace negotiations. Although Secretary Tumulty announced an-nounced that all the president's ap- point ments in the near future bad been cancelled, it became known that Mr. I Wilson still believed be might be able to go to New York next Friday lo , wotcomc Klngr Albert. Other members of the partv thought it likely that the , plan would be abandoned, however, nnd the greeting would take place instead in-stead at Washington W hether the president will leave Washington for the rest Dr Grayson has prescribed will not be determined immediately. He will al least remain at the White House for a few days and it mav be decided that the isola- lion desired can be secured there better bet-ter than at some place away from the capital.
