To promote public health and sanitation measures throughout tho state, the Utah Public Pub-lic Health association was formally launched at a meeting in the Hotel Utah last night. 13. O. Howard was elected president of the society, Hc-ber Hc-ber J.' Grant first vice president, Mayor A. R Heywood of Ogden second sec-ond vice president, "William J. Deeney secretary and Horace H. Smith treasurer. treas-urer. H. G. Merrill of Provo was elected assistant secretary and treasurer treas-urer Governor William Spry ancl United States Senator Reed Smoot wore elected honorary vice presidents of the organization. An executive committee was appointed ap-pointed with the following membership: member-ship: Dr. T. B. Beatty, Mrs. Arthur H. S. Bird, Mrs. James Cnnse of Ogdcu, Mrs. E. E. Corfman of Provo, Dr. E. G. Gowans, E. G. Peterson, president-elect of of the Utah Agricultural Agri-cultural college, and Miss Kate Williams. Wil-liams. In order to secure state-wire Interest Inter-est in the now pubic health movement, move-ment, a board of directors, including manj' of the prominent citizens of the state who are interested in measures of public welfare, was appointed.
