Show w ESCAPING FROM THE CLUTCHES OF DEMOCRACY. One of the most vigorous Progres sivc papers in the last campaign in I'tuh waa the Park City Record. Following Fol-lowing in the footsteps of The Stand-aid, Stand-aid, that able paper has realigned itself it-self with the old party in order to avoid being carried Into the Democratic Demo-cratic party. In Its last issue the Record says "Editor Bill Glasmaun of the Ogden Og-den Standard sizes the situation up about right when he says: 'With C olonel Roosevelt attacking the Democratic Dem-ocratic administration b all the power pow-er of his reasoning and fine command of the English language, In what a pe. culiar position the Progressive leaders lead-ers of Utah will find themselves, If they hold to their resolve to enter the coming campaign as allies, and therefore, defenders of the Democratic Democrat-ic party in this state. The Standard could foresee the degree of blunder- 1 lng to which the Progressive leaders were committing themselves when j they sanctioned the fusion of Progres- I slves and Democrats In Utah, and The Standard rebelling, refused to be j carried into this bedlam of politics, ! preferring to devote its energies to i making ihe Republican party a medium me-dium through which the sought-for reforms might be accomplished As the campaign develops, we have no regrets over having early re iched the conclusion that fusion in Utah Is a mistake, and that the place lor rro-gressives rro-gressives is back in the old party j where their great numbers and tre- mendous influence will completely i mold the policies, dictate the line of action and guide the entire party membership to the highest purposes of government.'
