Show I PROGRESSIVES INVITED BACK W WITH EQUAL FELLOWSHIP. In another column of this paper I will be found the official call of the B Republican party for a county contention. con-tention. In making the call, Chair Hban Dix states that "all those who believe In the protection of American Industries and Republican policies are Bhvlted to participate In the primaries VVd convention, irrespective of prevl I ous poHtcal affiliation." HH This throws the door open for the I progressives to return to the party, H not on probation, but on an equality I with all members of the Republican I party. This gives the Progressives I n opportunity ta not only partici-I partici-I pate at the primaries Thursday night, I but to elect their own delegates to I the county convention and nominate I their own candidates for county office. When the Republican national central committee one year ago, In special sesBlon in Washington. D. C . unanl mously passed resolutions takine away from the central committee ttl power to unseat delegates elected by the various state Republican parties and changed the ratio of delegates to the national convention so thai each state would be entitled to delegates dele-gates in proportion to the votes that arc cast by the Republican party, the Progressives won a great victory. It was the way Colonel Roosevelt was defeated at Chicago that caused these amendments to the national Republl can rules and the wrong clone at the Chicago convention was righted as far as It could be righted after the wrong had been committed. The changing of these rules was made for no other purpose than to give the Progressive element of the Republican party future fu-ture control of the party. Therefore Progressives in Weber county nre invited to turn out a.' Thursday night's primaries and stand on an equal footing with all the members mem-bers of the grand old party. |
