Show n Many Present at Golden Wedding Celebration On Saturday v Between 50 and 600 friends of Pa triarch and Mrs George W. Larkin were present at the familv home, 648 i (Twenty-seventh street, where last Sat I urday evening a reception was held I The affair was planned to commemo-Irate commemo-Irate the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Larkin and was indeed H most enjoyable part) The party was entirely informal and! no special invitations were issued, all the friends of the venerable couple be-bog be-bog invited and heartily welcomed. In, Kldiiion m the patrloarch and his wife, I members of the Larkin family re-1 reived the guests and assisted in enter tainlng them throughout the evening. I The guests were received in thei home where they greeted Mr and Mrs.' j Larkin and then were entertained out en the lawns where bright Japanese lanters and electric lights were effectively effec-tively .strung. The Ridges orchestra' furnished a splendid program of mu j steal selections and late in the evening played dance music for the younger, folks who enjoyed dancing on the lawn and on the pavement. Othei special i musical selections were given by Mrs. Mary Farley, Mrs. Agnes Warner, Mrs.! Lorene Snyder, Nephi J. Brown and! I Clara Bramwell who 6ang in their us-: ual fine manner. An especially entertaining enter-taining feature of the evening's pro-: gram of amusements was the dancing by two aged ladles, Mrs. Martha Per j rin and Mrs. Henry McCune of Salt Lake City who despite their years, guv. number of old time step dances With remarkable agility, .i--s Ferrln is 85 years of age and Mrs. McCune over 70 Mrs. Minerva bhaw, accom-1 panied them on the violin. Mrs. Shaw also played several selection- popular in the days when Mr. and Mrs. Larkin were young. ' Thomas Hall, former speaker of th house of representatives and a lifelong life-long friend of Mr. and Mrs. Larkin gave a short talk to the assembled1 guests and later addressed the honored pair and presented them with gifts! from their family. A wonderful gold-headed gold-headed cane was given to Mr. Larkin and Mrs. Larkin was given a beautiful gold brooch. Elijah Larkin responded in behalf of his parents. During the entire evening refresh-1 ments were served by Mrs. Almond Is-j laub, srclal caterer, and twenty! charming little girls assisting. Mr. and Mrs. Larkin have resided in Ogden forty-seven years and during that time have gained the admiration and friendship of a good number of the citizens of this city, as was manifested manifest-ed by the large attendance at the gold en wedding celebration of last Saturday, Satur-day, Altogether the party was one of the most enjoyable of Its kind ever glv-en glv-en in Ogden and one, indeed, to be remembered re-membered by ail who wen presents Mr. and Mrs. Larkin were extended the congratulations of a host of their friends not only in Ogden but throughout through-out the state. |
