Show BRITISH TO AID MARRIED SOLDIERS London, May 11, 3:15 a, m. London Lon-don awaits the government plan for assisting married soldiers to meet 'their household expenses while in the army, which will soon be made public. According to the morning newspapers, any man, single or married, mar-ried, will bo permitted to apply for grants to enable him to meet such liabilities as mortgage interest, building build-ing or furniture installments, rent, taxes, insurance and Ia-Tthe caBe of married, men, expense' of educating children. The assistance granted will in no case exceed two pounds sterl ing weekly. Each application will bo investigated investigat-ed locally by a. lawyer who will de- clde on tho merits of the case. No relief will be granted unless it Is proved that the resources of the applicant ap-plicant are insufficient. The Times says it believes the number of immediate im-mediate applications will exceed 200,000. nn |
