This ia a convention of momentous It must decide ou the poimportance. litical deetmy of Weber county iu the i mmediate future. It u a council of safety to whose hands the welfare of the people ia committed. Fur the Liberal party brought a revolution of success to Oden. It created confidence in the Nation, and capital, population, free schools and free government flowed to not only Odeu but to all Utah. It is a guarantee now to the people of the United States that the principles of the Republic are being fostered hero. And can Odon and Weber; county afford to shock the oonfidence of 'the country in Utah's progress just at the time when it is nnwt decisively needed? . O8'don is a loader in pdvancement, not of reaction. Aud the liberals must rally to the dufense of those principles and that policy which hate made Ogden brilliant aud are makicg it great. The convention tonight is for Liberals, genuine Liberals. It ia for men who believe in Liberal principles, who feel the neoessi'.y of continuing the party and who are willing to join the ranks and tight for another victory. It will be a brilliant convention. Such orators, leaders and staunch citizens of commonwealth as the Senator Frank Dubois, of Idaho, Judge E. P. Johnson of Corinne, Judge O. W. Powers and Hon. C. G. Goodwin of Salt Lake City, and many of Ogden's most able and patriotic men will be there to show why the Liberal party is yet indispensable in Utah. The famous Liberal Flambeau Club of Salt Luke City will be there. The Liberal ladies of Ogden have brilliantly decorated the stage. Let every Weber county Liberal be af, the opera house tonight Let. every man be present who is in doubt about the wisdom of abandoning the Liberal party. Let all such go and their doubts will be removed. They will see beyond a question that tha material welfareof Weber county will be built up by nominating and electing a ticket of such able men as belong to the Liberal ranks in this county. They will perceive that this course will reassure" capital and Americans everywhere that Ogden is a modern city; that Utah is going forward to free government and is in no danger ot returning to the control of a dictatorial ! , Lierarchy. This will be a grand convention, ablaze with eloquence, enthusiasm, patriotism and every Liberal should be there without fail. . If the fellows are not after statehood why don't they say so? And if they are after, it why don't they say so? Are' they afraid to tell the party division truth? Of course they are. To admit they want to make Utah a state, soon, would paralyze their little scheme in five minutes. To deny it would be an indictment of the Mormon church, a vote of lack of i oonfidence. So they keep still. They are after statehood. The people should knock their conspiracy into smithereens tonight at the Liberal convention. prove injurious and unfortunate. And it is plainly and positively true that as it was Mormon rule that the country was afraid of to begin with, its partial, or even apparent, restoration would create the old distrust and do Utah, and Ogden of course, positive, extensive and continued injury. Therefore, to help the Liberal party is to help Ogden, to help Utah, to help yourself, to assure prosperity and general progress. And the man w ho is broad and patriotic will join with the Liberal party tonight and hereafter, as the only course that is safe to the interests of the county and territory. Any other line of action is charged with dunger and reaction, and even disaster. Every property owner should seriously think of this and govern himself accordingly. Do not be deceived. This new party division scheme was planned by Mormon politicians. It was done to get Utah admitted as a state, which the Mormon church can easily cpntrol. If Utah were a state it would rule itself that is, it would be governed by the Mormons, because they have at least 7,000 majority. The government could not interfere and polygamy and interference in politics could be practiced and no power could stop it The enabling act might provide that the Mormon church should keep its hands off. But as the Mormons would elect the congressmen, governor, attorney general, judges, legislature, sheriffs everything, they need not and, of course would not enforce any law they did not like and the acts of congress would be null and void. Utah once a state is a Mormon state sure as fate. Who will risk statehood now? Not the Liberals. If you feel this way join the Liberal movement tonight at the Grand. ch, the Liberal convention tonight. "Old Virginia never tires." This was the song sung by the Southern troops in battles along the Potomac. It is the slogan of the people of Ogden, working for the Utah University, and especially opplies to the ladies who are emerging from the ardurous work of the Fair and are now preparing to make' the concert next Tuesday night a brilliant success. Liberal County Convention at the Grand Tonight. A Fatal Mistake. Physicians make no more fatal mistake than when they inform patients that nervous heart troubles come from the stomach and are of little consequence. Dr. Franklin Miles, the noted Indiana specialist, has proven the contrary in his new book on "Heart Disease," which may be had free at U. A.
