At the close of last session a very liberal estimate waa made by the committees, fixing the sum of those items at aVJOO.OUO, but it turned out that the aggregate was I10.000.0ua It is safe to ssy that the aggregate of all appropriations will exceed $53.1,000,000 and possibly will be considerably more. The first session of the seco.d annual convention of the state railroad commissioners, accounting officers and others interested in railroad matters, waa held here today. Judge Cooley, chairman of the interstate commerce commission, was elected chairman of the convention, and as chairman of the last annual convention, he read his annual address. The senate confirmed Joseph' Pink-haUnited States marshal from Idaho. Nominations: Henry C. Myers, postmaster, Misssoula, Mont; Jay Lycnb, Indian agent at Yaakima agency. The treasury department today paid out 19,500,000 for pensions, completing the 10,000,000 required on that account for the question ending tomorrow. The treasury surplus has accordingly been reduced to 113,000,000. As agreed upon in conference, the agricultural appropriation bill contains the senate amendment allowing sorghum sugar makers to use spirits tree of tax, and the Stewart irrigation survey amendment with a reduction of the ap propriation from K&OOO to 110,000. The senate conference committee receded from the amendment appropriating 120,- 000 for silk culture, this clause going out of the bill altogether. The bouse managers agreed to the appropriation of 1150,000 for the distribution of seeds to destitute citizens, and of $15,000 for additional agricultural experiment stations.
