Chicago Tribune. A Dancing Girl's Keqaeab Every year, when autumn approaches, Queen Victoria has her trunks packed and goes a pilgrimage to the shrine of the late John Brown at Balmoral The quiet life which her majesty is generally leading becomes then absolutely dull and greatly exasperates her suite. From the windows of her royal apartments the queen can glance at the white marble monument on dear John's tomb, and all her time is devoted either to the mem ory of the "ever lamented" or the faithful servant who managed to crawl np to such a high place in her royal affections. Once in a whiK however, the dullest of all the crowned heads in Europe feels dull herself. Last year the parson of Balmoral, who is a daily guest at the royal table, seeing her majesty so boreil, and knowing her weakness for every' thing Scotch, spoke to her of one of her tenant's daughters, who could dance the reel better than any girl in Scotland. The young lady was ordered to appear before her majesty the following day. When ushered into the queen's presence her majesty said, "I hear you can dance the reel well; dance." There was nothing left for the young lady to do but to dance and she did it so gracefully that her majesty's severe face almost took a pleasant expression. After the performance was over she asked the girl if the queen could do any' thing for her. The young lady first hesitated, but suddenly replied, "Indeed, your majesty, you can." "What is it?' "Give me Mr. Gladstone's head on a charger." Casting a severe glance at the girl the queen turned round and said: "Dear child, I will willingly give you the charger, but Mr. Gladstone's head I cannot It is a long time ago he lost it" New York World, DISTRICT COURT BLANKS. 10 Affidavit for Claim and Delivery personal property 625 Undertaking on Claim and Delivery of personal property 333 Undertaking for Return to Deft, Claim and Delivery personal property 77 Complaint on Claim and Delivery personal property.... The catch of salmon is still light, but is improving slightly, which is considered a very good indication that there are plenty of fish outside. The fish being caught are unusually fine, averaging thirty-fiv- e pounds in weight, and running nearly all of the same size. Fishermen say that as soon as the water in the river begins to fall the fish will commence to pour in, and there is a chance that a heavy run may swell the pack to at least somewhere near the usual pro- nineae." and recent attempt baa been made to show the government of the United States that the people of this territory in a day. so to speak, had sud denly become fit for statehood, under the cover or pretense of the adoption of the principles of the two great national political partes of the Lmted States, which pretense we view with suspicion because moral and intellectual convictions are not of rapid, but ot alow and deliberate grow th, and Whereas; The liberal party of Utah, born of the necessities of the hour, and in full accord and sympathy with the creat people of the L nited b La Lee, baa touched the heart and quickened the puiee or an American citizens oj ita steadfast and fearless maintenance of the supremacy of the republio and ita laws against all, voices and revelations; therefore, be it Rewired, By the Liberal partv of Weber county, in convention assembled, s that we announce to our ot the United States that there is no question ot a national, political character, at the present time, which should be allowed to distract the attention of either them or ourselves, from the single fundamental question of American citizenship, which here confronts us. Resolved, That the attempt to show that Utah was prepared for statehood, because its people bed openly divided upon national, political lines, meets with our condemnation; and we do not hesitate to characterize such action as the efforts of designing otlice seekers, whether the motive came from personal selfishness or ecclesiastical design; and we view with alarm the division on National party lines, and denounce such action as detrimental and ruinous to the property interests of this territory, at this time, believing as we do that its evil effects are already being felt here in Ogden, and in our sister cities throughout the territory, Bnd if successful, will nullify to a great extent, and cause us to lose the achievements and progress of the last twenty years. For years we have been contending for the American principle that the citizen, in the exercise of the civil rights of citizenship, belong to what political party or church he may, should suffer no coer cion or dictation, from priest or ctiurcn. Resolved, That the Liberal party has no animosities to gratify, no revenge to accomplish, but that it welcomes to its ranks every man who loves the principles of American Liberty, which have built up the great republic, guarded the purity of the home, Bnd elevated the individual, until Man has become a grander word than Monarch. Resolved, That the men and women now resident here, who are educated under the principles of free government, believe that every interets or U tab, both Mormon and Gentile, forbids the admission of the territory to statehood until its people, by untrammeled individual action, have evidenced that the spirit which animates the laws and institutions of our country, prevails indeed with them. Resolved, That we believe in the dig nity of labor, and recognize in the large and intellectual body of working men, in this city and county, one of the great est factors in our growth and prosperity, the power that shall build up our cities, develop our mines, and make of this great territory a commonwealth indeed. We believe iu the employment of our fellow citizens n the construc tion of all pubho works. W e believe that eight hours is a fair limit for a day's labor on all public buildings ana works; that the mechanics' lien law should be so amended as to protect the laborer as well as the contractor, and that the exemption law should be so amended as to exempt from execution or attachment sixty days' earnings of the laboring man who is the head of a family.
