Ia a day it added 50 per cent to the value of property. In an incredibly abort time it doubled the population of our city. It brought to our doom men of brains an4 pitaL, It mode Ogden the laboring man in all the best e.'r increased courage to tha west. 1: eved in the future greatthose who ness of Ogden. It inspired confidence in those who faltered. It inaugurated an era of good will and generous rivalry that was phenomenal Frejndioee of years disappeared as it by magio, and today there are no bickerings or jealousies auong the people of Ogden. They are all for Ogden, are proud of ita progress and have faith in ita destiny. The imposing structures erected in Ogden during the past two years, many of them by the atauncheet members of the People's party, are lasting monuments to that era of confidence and laudable ambition ushered in by the first Liberal victory. No city in the land has fairer prospects than Ogden. It leads the race for supremacy Jealous of none, independent of all. Circumstances have, for the time being, placed the care of its interests in tha hands of the Liberal party. It is, therefore, clearly incumbent on that party to perform two duties, duties ' which it owes to Ogden: First, to select from ita ranks men for the various municipal olllces in whose integrity, ability and discretion all citizens may with confidence rely. Second, to elect them by an emphatic majority. While we consider that the question of continued Liberal supremacy is at this moment paramount to all others,)' et the question of good government is inseparably connected with it and demands your earnoat attention. As the time of election draws near we hear from the opposition the persuasive voice of the fusionist. The burden of his song is; "All the good men are not of one party." Quite true. Yet it is Bad to reflect that this simple truth was not die-covered by the People's party during its thirty years of exclusive rule. While the usual discussion, as to the merits of various candidates is in progress it may be well for the great mass of the to reflect on me consequences or Earty victory or defeat. One means for Ogden a rapid increase in population, a steady appreciation of values, plenty of work, good wages-- a triumphant advance. The other means loss of confidence, depreciation, no work, houses to let a v ttmmm COBAftIZIXC, or tbe patrtavkior of too rat and ludifnauU fuut a euajiaoa hum of djattKblurt and uffrriur.
