R ftttna, and ti found him buaily entfatftMl waking and bonds for dxeda. On applying the reportorial pump the wribe obtained the following answer to hi eon-trir- "What, in your opinion ia the financial outlook for this western country?" "Oh, well; I must oonfeaa that I do not think the outlook ia aa bad as some eiprefle themselves aa swing il "It is true that money is not circuiting aa freely as we would all like to see it. But there ia more money per capita, in the country now than there hna lwn before in fifteen yeara. Inhere is a lack of oonlidem which makes people hold to what money they have. I am very confident that money matters will ri'lit themselves very earjy next year." "What do you think of the real estate market and its outlook?" The market ia not very brisk, now, but still there are many sales every day. Jurchasrs all want to make aa small cash payments as possible and to fret as long time as can be granted on deferred payments. There are many prospective purchasers coming into the city every day. One thing observable now is the number of persons who are seeking business locations. I think the southern part of the city will be the next to push rapidly to the front. There are now a large number of people preparing to build in Lake View and other additions south. This part of the city, from 28th street south, has now the beat property for the price tlmt is offered in this market. The electric line will bring this property up very rapidly as it will that in every other part of the city. "Ogdon is too large a city for mule cars, and it wants only electric linos to make it boom. "There is no other city within my knowledge which is so certain of an immediate and rapid growth as Ogden. I predict that it will double its population within three years from this date, and doing so prices of courne v. ill rapidly advance." "Do you think that the building of the. electrio railways will enhance the value of property in general iu Ogden?" "There is no doubt that it will. Why, in Denver the buililmg or thee bis doubled and tteblod the valuo of prvpor-t- y whereever it was touched by thorn. In Ogden it will be the same. People would rather live some distance from the business part of the city if they have the means of quick transit at their coin- mand." "I beliove you were east recently. What did you hear said of Ogdon?" "Well, I heard of Ogden wherever I went. To be sure my trip was not a very extended one, but I visited Denver and Pueblo as well as other places in Colorado. Wherever I went I heard good words for Ogden. I had several direct inquiries as to oponings here for certain classes of business and I believe that the coming spring will see a large influx of people who have more or less money to invest both in real estate and in business pursuits." "Did you see in any city a more prosperous aspect, fine buildings or greater enterprise than is shown here?" "No, I found no more prosperous place than Ogdon. The people of Donver and Pueblo are feeling poor and the money tightness has caused a very dull real estate market As to buildings, of course Denver has many more magnificent edifices than can be seen in any city in the west, but taking into consideration the difference in the size of the two cities, Ogden is far in advance of Denver in the class and style of her new buildings. Pueblo, which claims some 15,000 more population than Ogden cannot show today as elegant business blocks as are seen in Ogden. All this shows enterprise and when it is known that all of these new buildings have been erected by home capital and that hardly any, if ony, foreign money has been invested in the erection of large buildings in this city, it places the enterprise of the citizens of Ogden on a plane with any city in the west, and far ahead of that shown in most western cities of the same size."
