For instance, each man at one of the northern camps starts out with 38 distinct items of clothing. With winter coming on they are given plenty of warm wool. There are three sets of wool underwear, with woolen breeches, coats, and overcoats. These men will he fitted to dig themselves out from snow storms, and to sing and shout when the thermometer goes frisking around zero. An army is said to fight on its stomach. The meals already served have plenty of vitamins, with solid meat and vegetables abundant. The armies of Europe are supvosed to to get the best food available, while the folks at home subsist on substitutes. Even those armies would probably grin with satisfaction, if they got - such a solid meal as Uuclo Sam's boys will partake of. |
