Show Smithfield Holds 4-H Exercises More than a hundred mothers, fathers and 4-H club members gathered at the Second ward recreation re-creation hall in Smithfield Friday Fri-day evening to participate in 4-H achievement exercises. On display were more than 120 articles which 42 club girls had made this summer. Each of these girls received 4-H pins and war savings stamps in recognition of ! her excellent work. Practically j every one of these club members ! like others in Cache county, have worked long hours in the fields ' and carried olub projects besides. ! Miss Johanna Moen and Miss . Mignon Perry of Logan, judges of the exhibits, were high in their praise of the quality of work which was done. Each of the six girls in the third year clothing club led by Miss Anna Lu Reese, made best dresses which were rated in the A class. The first year club led by Marva Lu Hillyard and Amy Bybee also received an A rating. The average of each of the other clubs was a high B. The work of the fourth year club members was not judged, since these girls will get their ratings at the district dis-trict style revue to be held In Logan Saturday. Special recognition went to Mrs. Afton Smith and Mrs. Adaline Corbett who led a large club of 11 members each of whom completed com-pleted 100 per cent. First year leaders' pins were awarded to Verniece Winn, Amy Bybee, Marva Lu Hillyard, Mrs. Afton Smith, Mrs. Adaiine Corbett, Cor-bett, Mrs. Otis Mae Hansen and Mrs. Peggy Hurren. Ann Lu Reese was presenetd with a second se-cond year leaders' pin and Wanda Winn received a ' certificate for three years of leadreship in 4-H club work. General chairman of the exercise exer-cise was Ruth Marie Jensen. In charge of the program were Mrs. Afton Smith and Miss Ann Lue Reese. Sones and readings carried out a patriotic theme. Light refreshments were served from a candle-lit tea table by Eunice Hillyard, Laine Moore, Lois Allsop and Arlene Travel-lere, Travel-lere, fourth year club members. Also assisting were Wanda Winn, Vemice Winn, Amy Bybee and j Marva Lu Hillyard. |
