Show Open House Sunday For Jane Tidwell Mrs. Jane Nelson Tidwell, one of the first white children born in the old Smithfield fort, Sunday will be honored at open house in observance of her 80th. birthday anniversary. A daughter of the early pioneers of Cache county she was born September 12, 1862 to Robert and Elizabeth Joseph Nelson. On December De-cember 12, 1878, she was married to Royal E. Tidwell in the old Salt Lake Endowment house by Daniel H. Wells. The trip to Salt Lake was made in a lumber wagon and required three days. An active church worker she served as second counselor for 6 years and first counselor for 12 years in the Smithfield First L D S Relief Society organization and as secretary of the primary organization or-ganization for a number of years. She served as president of the Sarah Woodward camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers for two years and also as chaplain. She assisted on the stake old folks' committee for seven years. Four of her five sons have filled L D S missions in the eastern states. The mother of seven children, who are still living, Mrs. Janie Roskelley, Roy and Frank Tidwell ! of Smithfield, Melvin Tidwell of I Ogden, Leslie Tidwell of Sacramen- to, California and Vernon Tidwell i of Los Angeles. She also has 28 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren grandchild-ren and one great great grandchild. grand-child.
