Will the voluntary wage and price controls con-trols President Carter outlined in his an-ti-inflation program work? Norman Porter I don't think the program is going to work, no one else does either. Inflation will go up before it goes down. Doug Hamilton No, because no one will follow the regulations, which will have to become mandatory man-datory before the big companies will comply. Debbie Nourse Voluntary controls never seem to work. If we had voluntary taxes the government govern-ment would be broke. Denise Riley I think it could work with competition, com-petition, especially in the case of companies competing for government contracts. It will have to be an overall effort though, from the individual in-dividual to the management level. David Keaton No. thev t p unions nor the company presidents will volun-fariiv volun-fariiv follow the PiiiHelines. Inflation has eaten too much into the paycheck for the wage earner to accept his present salary. Robin Svoboda I don't know, I haven't read enough on the subject to give an answer. 3 won't work. Indeed we saw many new faces and many old familiar ones too. This spectacular ride went to Warren King who wrote a check to the Art Center that evening for $250. Second prize of a huge ceramic bottle thrown by Art Center Director David Fernandez went to Ted Warr who donated $110 that evening. eve-ning. And above all, a very special thanks goes to the Kimball Art Guild; without their help, the event would not have happened. Vote For Tom To the Citizens of the Park City Fire Protection. District: Dis-trict: I have been a commissioner and chairman of the com-misson com-misson of the District since its beginning. Clements Hansen and Mary Lehmer have also served as commissioners. com-missioners. When Mary Lehmer resigned her position posi-tion as commissioner, the remaining commissioners were obligated by law to fill her unexpired term. Informally In-formally the commission agreed to replace Mrs. Lehmer with someone from the Snyderville area so the board would represent the wide interests of the District. A few people informally expressed some interest in the position. However, Tom Shellenberger was the only person who expressed enough interest to meet with the board and make his wishes and qualifications known. Due to his interest and enthusiasm plus his willingness to serve, Tom Shellenberger was appointed on May 5, 1977 ar.d has been serving as commissioner faithfully since then. Tom Shellenberger has demonstrated his commitment commit-ment to the District by his 70 !?efcfor Thanks kids who worked so hard during the two days; and to the ski shops and businesses which donated door prizes. And an extra thanks goes to the U.S. Ski Team, which donated an abundant supply of ski clothing for the swap. Thanks again to everyone! Bob Marsh and the Park City Ski Team And too, so were all of the gourmet goodies which miraculously mir-aculously appeared from the kitchens of all of the Guild members to indeed make the party a festive, if not fattening one! Thanks too, go out to Susan Jarman, Betty Watts, Cathy Morris and Janet Goldstein who greeted guests at the front desk for us. We want you all to know how much we appreciate your time and efforts. They were enjoyed by all and because of them, more than $1,200 was raised that evening eve-ning and many new people got to know us. And too, a special thanks to Bobby Burns of the Ski Co. who donated the string quartet entertainment, to Stewart Roberts who donated the balloon ride, and to our faculty who graciously assisted the staff and volunteers. volun-teers. Mack pumper and the support of the District Master Plan. Without With-out his positive attitude and willingness to see an improvement im-provement in fire protection progress would have been much slower. Tom Shellenberger will be running for the four year non partisan commission seat in the election on November 7th. Tom will represent the 4iw" "- "n oc hp has in the past. Due to an unfortunate misunderstanding misunderstand-ing there are no names listed on the ballot under the Park City Fire Protection District Commissioners post. It is necessary for you to write in the name of a candidate. I would urge you to write the name of Tom Shellenberger on the ballot so the District may continue to progress with the aid of this capable man for the benefit of all the citizens of the District.
