Show 5 Wednesday, September 20,1978 Page 12 Vi Candidates Formulate Campaign Strategy Continued From Page 1 could find no mention of it," Pace said. "I don't know where it started." Decker, a 28-year-old resident of Park City, noted that his bid for the two-year post was not in the interest . of breaking a precedent, but in adequate representation for this end of the county. "The population should determine the representation," Decker said. "The population here deserves as much representation as it can get, and if it can vote two representatives in, it should." If elected, Decker said he intends to "try to eliminate a lot of the time-consuming, time-consuming, petty things that take up the commission's time." He would highlight more important aspects, he said, especially planning. "Given the court system in Utah, there's no way to stop growth," Decker said. "But we can make sure that the existing taxpayers don't pay one penny more for new houses being built. They can and should pay for themselves." Decker voiced optimism for the outcome of the November election. "If the people of the county are interested in-terested in where their money goes and in protecting themselves, they will elect someone not entrenched in old friendships and old ideas, and get someone with energy, enthusiasm and new ideas. And I have about five years' more experience in full time public office than any other candidate." TFN As to his campaign strategy, Decker sa;d he intends to "go door to door, shaking babies and kissing hands." han-ds." Park City resident Lloyd Stevens gained support in the primary election elec-tion and enters th ' member race for the four-year co: : sion seat against again-st Republican incumbent Bill Wallin. "I'm planning on campaigning to get as many people as possible registered to vote in November," Stevens said. "I'm going to spend time in the Coalville and Kamas areas and find out the people's needs and wants. Also, I intend to spend time in the Coalville Courthouse looking over minutes from the past commission's meetings." As to his primary win, Stevens said, "I'd like to express my thanks to the Democrats who voted for me, and those who voted who are not Democrats. But I feel concern that the other party had so many more voters, almost 3 to 1." Stevens said he felt optimistic about the November election, if only because it falls on his birthday, and added, "A thinking person should elect the person he thinks is best qualified, regardless of the party he belongs to." Incumbent Bill Wallin has been a Synderville resident for the past 25 years and owns a ranch there. The 42 year-old candidate said he has not detailed a campaign yet, but feels "I can represent everyone in the county pretty well. Wallin said during his past two years in office that "Anyone who has represented their feelings to me, I have tried to solve their problems." Wallin noted that although there was room for improvement, the present "development code is a good basis, and we can build from there." He added that the Silver Springs plan was well organized and met existing regulations. "There could've been more people input in the plan. They waited too long." Wallin expressed optimism for another term on the county commission, com-mission, and reflecting on the past two years, he said, "The commission as a whole tried to solve the problems that have come up. Sure there are differences dif-ferences of opinion and lots of 2-to-l votes, but generally we worked well together." DUPLEX: 2100 & 2124 Sidewinder Dr. Prospector Village. Former For-mer Planning Director Max Greenhall drafted the plan, and submitted it to the plan-' ning commission on August 15. Greenhall left the job of planning commissioner after August 15, and has been replaced by "Stan Strebal. Strebal says the master plan is a written document that serves as a framework for community planning in the county. Included in the plan are population projections, projec-tions, the economic base, CROSSWORD PUZZLE ACROSS 1 Intended 6 Talon 10 Woodsman 11 Wahine's dance 12 Sweater material 13 The "A" in DNA 14 Shoshone 15 The "0" in OPEC 17 Suffix with coward 18 Ukraine legislature 20 Filled up 22 Excited 23 Implant 24 Novelist Bagnold 26 Restaurant checks 29 Allow 31 Kind of trench 33 Vocation 36 Putting objective 37 Defunct league 38 Dusky 40 Wide st. 41 Chinese association 43 Defeated 45 Cutting part 46 Main road 47 Nimrod's item 48 Suspicious DOWN 1 Composite picture 2 Prodded 3 Years back 4 "Quo Vadis" character 5 Forest paths 6 Kind of tea 7 Clear 8 Albee's "Tiny" one 9 Proceeded slowly 10 Tierney movie PROPERTY: Custom. 4 becfrbom, 3 bath home on golfTI course in prestigious Thaynes Canyon with outstanding view of ski area. A master plan map was adopted adop-ted some time ago for the county, it projects furturf development in the county by graphic means. Residents in the Parley's Park area including Summit Sum-mit Park, Silver Creek and Snyderville should be particularly par-ticularly interested in the adopted master plan since it describes what type of development (low-density residential, high-density residential, commercial, etc.) will be considered for each area in Parley's Park.
