This year some of the DE students at PCHS take the course in order to get a job and earn money but Jones sees the course as being mostly for the career oriented in the future. "There is a large amount of retail business in Park City... I think there is a real need for this type of program here,'says Jones. Holiday Inn Will Increase Business Continued from Page 1 The Yarrow, as Park City's Holiday Inn is called, is nearing completion and will be hosting overnight guests and conventioneers by the beginning of October. Debby Travis, director of sales for The Yarrow, said bookings have been coming in non-stop since groundbreaking ground-breaking last spring. She commented comment-ed that the rooms are sixty percent booked for the ski season, with the four days right around Christmas sold out, January solidly reserved and February 20 percent overbooked. Overbooking serves as a waiting list for last minute cancellations. Included in those reservations are conventions for the inn's 350-person capacity meeting space. In the opeing weeks of operation, the inn will be hosting three Utah groups and four national' groups, including meetings of the U.S. Ski Coaches Association and the Federal Reserve Bank. Greeting the bone-weary travelers will be rooms expensively decorated with brass beds and solid cherry and pecan furniture made by American of Martinsville in North Carolina. Two walls are papered in each room and match the design of the curtains and bedspreads. Watercolor prints by local artist Jennifer Sharp accent the bright colors in each room. Jones .thinks the tourist businesses in town should provide excellent ex-cellent experience and opportunity for students interested in this field. Some cooperative students have interviewed inter-viewed for jobs at the Holiday Inn and Jones said he may include a special recreation and tourism adjunct to the DE program in the future! were designed by Bob Richins oi Richins Design Organization in Salt Lake City, who also designed the Park City Racquet Club cabanas and Snowbird's Iron Blosam Lodge. Travis noted that $3,000 was spent on the design and furnishings in each room, more than twice what is normally nor-mally spent by a Holidav Inn. Guests will be invited to mill around the inn's lobby, which has 18-loot ceilings, four brass lights, deep solas and a fireplace. There are plans for rotating artwork from the Kimball Art Center in the lobby. Tra is said the inn received a liquor license and will have a state liquor store available at opening. There is a coffee shop that will be opCn 16 hours a day as well as a pub with a fireplace. In January the inn plans to open a dining room. Travis noted that all food is prepared by Royces Restaurant of Salt Lake City, and the chef, Dennis Bird, was formerly with the Rustler Lodge in Alta for ten years. In addition, there is a heated outdoor out-door pool that can be used all winter. Travis said memberships will be sold to Park City residents. "The bookings so far have been just great," Travis said enthusiastically. "We are really looking forward to a great winter." - .
