COMMUNITY EDUCATION SERIES The Park City School District Community Education program is scheduling a series of important classes to be held once a week for four consecutive weeks. The subjects of these classes will be: Financial Management and Success; Savings Investments and Insurance; Tax Benefits and Services; Estate Planning; Wills and Trusts. There will be a different qualified instructor for each class and there will be a small fee. If you are interested in one or all, they will be given as a series. BLOOD PRESSURE CLINIC The Public Health Nurse will be taking blood pressures from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 18 in her office at Marsac School. LICENSE AND REGISTRATION Commencing July 26, 1978, driver's license renewals and title changes will be done at the Memorial Building in Park City on the 2nd and 1th Wednesday each month, from 2-4 p.m. Please note that this change was made by the State Motor Vehicle Division and not by the County Assessor. Thank you. ARTS FESTIVAL FOOD BOOTHS Applications are now being taken from Park City non-profit organizations for food booths at the Park City Arts Festival August 19 and 20. PUBLIC NOTICE 1978, the Park City Land zoning On .the 6th dav -of July, Council amended the Park City Management Code to create a new district, a Recreation and Open Space (ROS) district. The zoning requirements for this newly created zone are outlined as follows : Recreation and Open Space District 1. Purpose: The purposes of the Recreation and Open Space District are to establish and preserve districts for land uses requiring substantial areas of open land covered with vegetation and substantially free from structures, roads and parking lots, while permitting recreational pursuits and preserving recreational developed and undeveloped open space land. Parks, golf courses and certain types of public or private recreational facilities are suitable uses of this district, provided that such uss remain open space in character. 2. Permitted Uses : a. Public or private recreational open space. b. Public or private park and recreation areas. c. Activities for conservation of soil, water, vegetation and wildlife. d. Golf courses and driving ranges. ; e. Swimming facilities. f. Riding or bridle paths. g. Skiing. h. Picnic areas. i i. Tennis facilities. 3. Building Height: No structure shall be erected to a height of more than twenty-eight (28) feet, measured from the natural grade to the building height. IMMUNIZATION CLINIC Immunization clinics are being held the third Tuesday of each month from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Public Health Nurse's office at Marsac School. The July clinic will be Tuesday, July 18. This service is free and is available to persons of all ages. Girls over the age of 12 years will not be given Measles, mumps, or rubella immunizations, but are urged to obtain them from their family doctor. Please bring your immunization records with you. Children under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by parent or guardian. For further information, contact Diana Maxell, Public Health Nurse, at 649-9072 Tuesdays or Thursdays. If there is no answer, please call back. WELL-CHILD CLINIC The July Well-Child Clinic will be held Wednesday July 19 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Public Health Nurse's office at Marsac School. Each child will be weighed, measured, receive a physical examination and necessary immunizations. There is a $1 fee per clinic visit. Immunizations are free. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM The Summer Enrichment Program for children 5-10 years of age will be held August 1-17 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8:00-10:00 8:00-10:00 a.m., at the Park City High School. There is a minimum requirement of 10 students per class. The schedule is as follows: 8:00 a.m. Reading (extra help); Reading (challenge); French; Language Arts; Science. 9:00 a.m. Math (extra help); Math (challenge); Spanish; Drama; Environmental Studies. It Was A Fine Article But Let's Have Credit Where It's Due Dear Sirs: Congrats on a fine article "Spencers and Alamo Duel This Sunday." The slowpitch league must really be something when it rates a four-column article. But let's have credit where credit's due. You report that in the first year of the league's existence the Utah Coal & Lumber was the only real competition and the next year as the Ski Team and tiien the Alamo Bums. Let's set the record straight. The Blacksox were second in '75 and O'Brien's (now Mt. Realty) in '76 and Mt. Realty in '77. So let's not get too excited about a perennial also-ran. Sincerely, David R. Sundquist and Mt. Realty Savings And Loan Info Released On January 13, 1978 Commissioner W.S. Brimhall held a public meeting concerning a petition for permission to establish a state chartered savings and loan. The savings and loan to be known as Summit Savings and Loan will be located in Park City, Summit County, Utah. Organizers of the savings ' and loan are Dean S. Berrett, William F. McComb, William D. Treager, Jack Dozier and Stein Erickson, all residents of Park City, along with Fredric Spidell and Richard Giauque both of Salt Lake City. On April 17, 1978, the Commissioner approved the application subject to the organizers obtaining federal insurance of accounts. The organizers have met with representatives of the Seattle Federal Home Loan Bank Board regarding , federal insurance of accounts. Consequently, the new savings and loan is well on its way toward completing the requirements require-ments for federal -insurance. " 1 : It is planned that Dean S.la Berrett will be the associations President and Managing Officer. Mr. Berrett received a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Utah in 1972. Upon graduation he accepted employment with American Savings and Loan serving in various capacities until his resignation in December of 1977. Mr. Berrett has been a resident of Park City since 1973. Frederic Spidell will serve as Chairman of the Board. Mr. Spidell is currently the President of First Consortium Corp., a mortgage banking and brokerage firm. Prior to residing in Salt Lake City, Mr. Spidell was an executive of a large midwest savings and loan association. He has also served as the Director, Office of Examinations and Supervision for the Federal Home Loan Bank Board. The savings and loan will be capitalized with proceeds from a common stock offering. The necessary capital is $500,000, the contemplated sales price of the common stock will be in the $5 to $6 range. The organizers will also be seeking ..,an additional . $250,000 in savinss rienoslts. this savings capital to be deposited by the close of the associations first year of operation. WOODSIDE EXCAVATION The Snyderville Basin Sewer Improvement District will begin installation of new sewer lines on Woodside Avenue next week. The installation of new water lines will follow. Both the sewer district and the city thank Woodside residents for their cooperation during this period of inconvenience. RIDE AND TIE INFORMATION Race begins Saturday at noon in Deer Valley. Spectators are encouraged to come to Deer Valley. The course will loop through there twice during the course of the race. Spectators may also walk into Lake Flat absolutely no vehicles allowed on the course. People are encouraged to be at City Park for completion of the race which will go through Easy Street.
