Lund, in a report presented to Mayor Leon Uriarte and the city council on Thursday, April 1, recommended that the city drop plans for a public hearing to determine if the Motherlode bar and restaurant, operated by John Newland, constitutes a public nuisance. ' The council accepted Lund's recommendation and voted to cancel the public hearing that was originally slated for March 4, 1976, but which was postponed due to CitV Attorney Carl Nemelka's ill health. License Kevoked The proposed public hearing involving the Motherlode had resulted from a report presented to the city council on Feb. 5, by the then Acting Police Chief Dennis Leatham. The report, in part, recommended to the council "that - the classification of, Mr. Newland's license be reviewed and that his restaurant license be revoked." Chief Agrees In his April 1 report to the council Chief Lund agreed with Newland. The letter reads as follows: "Dear Mr. Mayor and Ladies and Gentlemen of the City Council of Park City: As you all are quite aware of Mr. Newland has been acquitted of the criminal charges brought against him in an action by the Park City Police Department last month. I have personally reviewed this incident, and met with my officers as to the complete com-plete problem presented. I must say reluctantly that I must agree with Mr. Newland when he stated that he has not been) convicted of any charges, why should his business license be in (continued on page 3) Reservation Center Planned The Park City Lodging Association Monday night voted to establish a central reservation center.
