By Owen Roberts The Park City High Rollers maintained their number two spot in Division II-B of the Salt Lake City soccer league Saturday by devastating the fourth place B-Clippers B-Clippers from Bountiful 7-2. This win upped the Rollers' record to 6-1 and the local team has a good chance of capturing the number one spot in it division if it can beat top-ranked Murray next Saturday. During the first half, the B- Clippers dominated the ball, except for several fast breaks by Park City. Bountiful, Boun-tiful, having already missed one direct kick, scored the first goal of the game on .another direct penalty kick for a hand ball. The Rollers first goal was scored by Pat Carley on a fast break when he beat B-Clipper defen-semen. defen-semen. Carley chipped the ball over the head of the goalie, who came out of the goal, and into the opposite corner. Carley made the score 2-1 late in the first half when he footed the ball in on a direct penalty kick. The B- Clipper's captain officially protested the game, disagreeing vehemently to the referee's call on a throw-in throw-in which immediately preceded that penalty. The referee, in turn, drew the yellow warning card on him for unsportsman-like behavior and delay of game. In the early minutes of the second half, Carley assisted by Rip Griffith, booted in his third goal of the game, boosting the Rollers' lead to 3-1. lead to 3-1. Tony Brady knocked in the fourth goal for Park City. During that play, an angry Bountiful defenseman, feeling he had been fouled, ran up and grabbed one of the referees, almost knocking him down. For that action, the referee drew the red card on the player and he was thrown out of the game. The Rollers' fifth goal was made by Griffith on a direct penalty kick for a hand ball. Shortly afterwards, Carley blasted in his fourth goal, completing his hat trick and making the score 6-1. Tony Brady knocked in the Rollers' seventh and final goal of the game. The B-Clippers B-Clippers managed to score one more goal during the final seconds of the game, making the final score Park City over Bountiful, 7-2. Again, as in last week's game, it was a highly verbal and volatile match. However, this time the Rollers did not emerge from the battle unscathed. Pat Carley ended up with a twisted ankle as a result of a foul. Lou Warner acquired a sprained knee and a bruised, possibly cracked, shoulder after hitting the goal post (which moved a few . feet). While attempting attempt-ing to lead the ball. The Rollers are hopeful that Warner and j Carley, as well as the rest of the squad, will be well and ready to play Murray, the number one team in the Rollers' division, this Saturday. Satur-day. The match is likely to be the deciding game for Division II-B championship. If Park City wins first place in Division II-B this year, the Rollers will play in Division I next year. GAA Falls to Mustangs I The Park City High School Girls Athletic Association played their last home game .of the season Wednesday against the Manila 'Mustangs. The junior varsity var-sity and varsity teams each played a best-two-out-of-i three-game contest against tough competition. Despite excellent teamwork team-work the JV's lost their first two games by narrow margins. Robyn Sieverts baffled the Mustangs with, her powerful network and promises to be a growing asset to the GAA. The girls obviously were disappointed but decided to play a third game for practice. They won, and though it didn't count, it displayed the girls' enthusiasm. The varsity won its first game, lost the second, then fought a bitter battle over the tie-breaker, falling 20-18. Coach Gail McBride said Roxanne Toly showed marked improvement and the stands cheered Cathy Ulrich for her incredible saves. Park City's season record now stands at 3-6 with one game left to play against North Rich. The GAA will also take part in the Regents Tournament at Dugway on Nov. 22. Yampa and Green Focus of Whitewater Workshop A public workshop on proposed management alternatives for Whitewater boating on the Yampa and Green rivers in Dinosaur National Monument will be conducted by the National Park Service Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the State Office Building auditorium. A draft environmental assessment on the alternatives alter-natives will be discussed at the meeting. Regulation of public use on the , rivers became necessary with ex ploding popularity of Whitewater boating during the 1960s, the Park Service noted. From only 400 persons who floated the rivers in 1959, public use swelled to more than 17,000 persons in 1972.
