Mountain NASTAR Paceset-ting Paceset-ting trials. The event was held at Vail, Co., December 5-7. Corrock turned in five flawless runs as he defeated Jackson Hole, pro, Pepi Stiegler, the man who at 39 has earned that honor for seven straight seasons. Corrock came out on top of . the 86 pros that competed including 10 members of the Worid Pro Skiing Tour Though Corrock won five of the seven runs held, the top ten finishers were all within a " second of one another after, each run. Touring pros who stayed on Corrock' s tail throughout included five who earned identical handicaps of one, barely off the pace . established by the Sun Valley skier. When it was over, the top ranking American Ameri-can professionsl, Bob Cochran Cochr-an , Terry Palmer, winner of the 1976 Lange Cup. slalom; two former Junior National champions, Whit Sterling of Aspen, and Bill Shaw of Grand Targhee and 1976 winner of the Eastern Professional Profes-sional Circuit, Victor Roy, all earned handicaps of one. Close behind their pace were . Steigler and three members of the pro tour, 1975 Worid Pro Skiing Champion, Hank Kashiwa of Steamboat; Dick Haller also of Steamboat; -and pacesetter Rudd Pyles. Kashiwa and Stiegler last year tied for the number one NASTAR position.
