State Band Soloists On Saturday, April 12, three Juab High School band members went to competition for State Solos. Wesley Imler (1 1) on trombone, Sara Imler (10) on flute and Roger Thorpe (9) on Tuba. Wesley received an excellent (II) rating. Sara received a superior minus ) rating. Roger re- - ceived an excellent plus (11) rating. Mr. Imler was very pleased with their had work and good ratings. These students work for a year preparing their songs. Real preparation started the day they joined band in 6th grade. (I-- JHS baseball played tough game against Juan Diego The Juab High School Varsity Baseball team played at Juan Diego last Thursday and lost 10-The game was closer then the score .actually for shows. The game was Juan Diego in the bottom of the 5th inning and with some breaks Juab could have kept the game close. Both Juab and Juan Diego each had 8 hits for the game. The outstanding pitcher for the game was Justin Hooper, who pitched 3-- 2 5 innings, had 8 strikeouts, and only gave up 2 earned runs. Results of the 2003 Central Utah Sterling Scholars Delta, South Sevier, Cedar Sterling Scholars of Ridge North Sevier, Wayne Central Utah program took place April 3 at Manti High School. The program recognizes scholastic achievements and citizenship of high school seniors. Winners receive cash awards donated by local and regional businesses and individuals and are eligible for scholarships from 15 college! and universities. One winner and two runners-up were selected in each of the 14 categories, with the exception of the foreign language category, which had one winner and three runners-up. and Richfield each had one. The Juab Varsity Baseball team next plays North Sanpete at home on April 22 at Juabs JV beat Juan Di- Chet Coombs hit a ego three run home run in the first inning to jump out to the lead. Brady Jones made quick plays at second base to get outs. Brett Hansen did a great job of running the bases and taking the extra base when needed. The team as a whole played well and did a 8-- good job of executing plays. The JV Baseball team next plays North Sanpete at home on April 22 at 5:00 p.m. Juab High School Sterling Scholar Showcase Thursday, April 24th 7 p.m. at Nephi Elementary School Family, friends, teachers and future scholars (Everyone) welcome come support these very talented students! Blackett pitched a pretty good game for Juab and actually the Wasps out hit Lehi but some costly errors lead to 5 of the Lehi runs. Leading hitters 8-- 5 traveled to Lehi last week to play two games. In the first game, Shane Blackett got the start on the mound for the Wasps. Juab struck first with Shane Blackett providing a two out double to left scoring two runs. Lehi came back to score four runs in the next inning and held on for the Wasps were Kyle Callaway with two singles and Shane Blackett with a double and 2 RBI. It was a game going into the fourth inning when Lehi began to hit the Wasps pitching. Lehi broke it open scoring 6 runs and went on to the victory.
