Community Center, jail get grants, loans Olsen named Utah's Teacher of the Year' ( Steve Olsen, the new principal SchooI. has beeh' named the 1991 Utah Rural School Association Teacher of the Year on the secondary level. The award was presented by Jay Taggart, state superintendent of public instruction, at the Utah Rural School Associations recognition program held last week in Cedar City. Olsen received his bachelor of science degree in education in 1976 from Brigham Young University. He has taught for 13 years in the Juab School District, including 10 years in the sixth grade at the Juab Middle School. He was on sabbatical last year while completing a master of educational ad- ministration degree at BYU. Olsen has been involved in developing and presenting train-in- g programs on the outcome- based education system, in- processes, and class- room practices. He has presented training in Nephi, Vernal, St. George, Tooele, Richfield, Yakima, Wash., and Phoenix, Ariz. He is married to the former Cindy Harper, and they have six children. The Olsens live in Fountain Green. Mid-struction- al Juab High School will register students Thursday and Friday, Aug. 15 and 16. Seniors will register Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, juniors will sign up Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m., sophomores will register Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, and freshmen will sign up from 1 to 3 p.m. All students should come prepared to have their pictures taken. Those who do not want photo packets will have their picture taken for their activity cards. Yearbook pictures for seniors this year will be conservative. She was born Sept. 3, 1894 in Nephi to Charles S. and Lucy Jane Wilkey Morris. She married Claude M. Tolley Oct. 30, 1913 in Nephi. The marriage later was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
