From Training School at Logan Problems confronting agriculture Utah and especially in Juab County were discussed by Wilford Belliston president of the Nephi Irrigation company and successful Nephi farmer at the regular weekly meeting of the Nephi Kiwanis club held Monday noon at the Forrest Hotel. Mr. Belliston recently returned from a two weeks adult training course at the Utah State Agricultural college at Logan, and while there he came in contact with the many vital problems that are confronting this state, and especially agriculture, inasmuch as agriculture plays a very important part in the livlihood of our people. The speaker was very frank in his remarks concerning the ills of Juab county agriculturists, and his conclusions are very timely and logical and should be followed out by the farmers and livestock men of this area. He stated that the dairy herds of the valley should be brought up to a higher grade of both breeding stock and dairy cows, and all "boarders" should be eliminated from the dairy herds of this district. Water problems confronting the Nephi farmers were discussed by Mr. Belliston, and he urged that reservoirs be . built in Salt Creek canyon to store the water that runs to waste during the winter months. He also suggests that the electric light and plaster mill canals should be cemented to eliminate the loss of water. He stated that in his opinion some of the farm land near Nephi was getting to much water, which was damaging the alfalfa stands. He urged greater use of fertilizer for the farms of this county, stating that each farmer should spend his spare time fertilizing his farm, and increasing the yields, which is necessary to put the farms of this county on a basis with those of other districts Mr. Belliston discussed the debt problem which is confronting the agriculturists of Utah today. Christmas presents were given to all members present, with Bobby Beckstead as Santa Claus. in Santa To Visit Wards Sunday "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" may be the title of a popular song, but it is equally fitting to tell the story which will take place in each of the three wards of Nephi Sunday morning, commencing at 10:30. Santa, in all the glory the grand old man can show, will visit the wards to climax programs which will include sacred music, readings, His visit and novelty numbers. will in turn be climaxed when he distributes to the kiddies in the three meetings sacks of candy and nuts, which are being distributed through the compliments of the Nephi merchants. The Superintendencies of the 3 Sunday School organizations take this means of issuing an invitation to every kiddy in every ward to be in attendance at this program in their respective ward. It is annually a high spot of Christmas and will long be remembered.
