Fair Characterized itf ' By Good Order. V . By THOMAS H. BURTON The fifth anual Juab County Fair will go down In history as one of the greatest events ot its kind which has ever taken place in Juab County. Never before in its 77 years existence have the people of Nephi City wit nessed such a crowd as was assembled on the fair grounds during the second day. The crowd was estimated at At one form 2700 to 3,000 people. time there were over four hundred In the park and the automobiles value thereof was astimated at JS00.000. 00. While the race pro gram, baseball and other sports and amusements were very interesting and among the best we have ever had, the football game between the Tintlc High and the West High was one of the biggest events pulled oft during the fair, and was very inter esting from another point of view because it was the first foot ball game ever played in Nephi. The Nephi band did Itself proud. The boys were on the Job for three days and gave a very pleasant and en- Joyable concert on Saturday evening. Although In years past we have employed outside bands, and! to our great satisfaction we now find that our own town band is aqual to, if not superior, to the Imported bands which we have had in the past. The fireworks display on Friday and Sat urday evening was one of the big events of the great show and was witnessed by hundreds of people from all parts of the county. One of the problems with which the amusement committee is confronted with each year is to get good, clean, carnival amusements. This year we wer fortunate in secur ing the best w have ever had' The XVPVJfJTihe TifalXf ',nd con- cesions brought to us a good clean bunch of, people, all of whom were with the ever ready to fair officials and the officers to operate everything in connection therewith in an orderly and high class manner. The splendid order which was maintained through the three days was appreciated by all. The sheriff of Juab County and the City Marshal - J, I ; jttzi ..X T The new city pipe line was practi cally completed this week. The work has been accomplished in record time and with very little inconvenience to the people of this city. The work has been under the supervision of City Water Master A. J. Gowera and as been handled by him in a very efficient manner. Now that the new system is in stalled the cost to the taxpayers of Nephi will be greatly reduced in maintaining the water system, as the Id system needed constant repairs. n addition, tne city water suppiy will be greatly increased as the loss of water through leaky pipes was very large throughout the summer months. The Mayor and City Council are to be congratulated on the com pletion ot this needed improvement of such a necessary public utility as ur water supply. i . ' - E. B.
