If the present move to grow alfalfa seed on a large scale turns out well this valley will yet become famous for the growing of seed. During the past two weeks over seven hundred acres of land have been signed up by the Occidental Seed Company of Salt Lake City, all of which will be planted this spring. This Beed is known as the Grim Alfalfa Seed and matures three weeiks earlier than the present alfalfa seed that has been grown here for years. This early maturing will eliminate to a large extent the danger of frost and almost insures a full crop each year. This new variety of seed has been tested out in several places in the western states and hag done remarkably well. The company furnishes the seed, which is certified, and will send a man down to supervise the planting. o attempt will be made to obtain ny seed the first season, but the year following the second crop will be saved for seed. If any of the seed does not germinate the company will furnish the seed for a replanting. When the crop is harvested the Company will buy the seed at market At this time, the cost of prices. the seed furnished for the planting will be deducted from the first crop. Iu Utah and Idaho, the company will furnish about $127,000 worth of seed for planting this spring, and all contracts are now closed for this season.
