A mass meeting of the citizens ot Monti was held In the meeting house in that town on Sunday evening for the purpose of considering the proposition of Incdrporutlng the town. J., F. Newton ucted as chairman and explained moVtlng, the purpose of the T. H, Burton, after which city attorney of Nephl, gave a talk explaining the legal aspects of the question. Win. Hulley, of this city, then gave an address showing the benefits that would accrue to the people of Mon a through their being able to inanuge their own affairs, but impressed upon them the necessity ot being united before any steps were taken to incorporate." Mayor Garrett was the next speaker and be also told of thrf need of their being united on the question, and also told of the help It would be to the citizens to be able to run their own affairs and to be able to make that would public Improvements mean greater progres for their com -- munity. Ilishop Garfield then spoke in favor of Incorporating the town but said he desired that they all be united on the question before any action be taken. G. M. Whit more then made an ear nest plea for the suport of the Vic tory Loan and slated that he had appointed Bishop Garfield as the local chairman tor Mona. and urged those present to give him their support In helping to make the I un a success, At the close of the meeting it was thought best to have a committee ap pointed to Investigate thc question of incorporation and ascertain wbeth er --Mona had the necessary popula tfon and other data to comply with the law. A committee of twelve was then appointed to report back to future meeting. GltKKN GOES OVER THK TOP In the Victory Loan drive which started lust Monday, Fountain Green, our neighbor on the east, went over the' top before the drive commenced. J. T. Oldroyd, the chairman, notlfy- ng the headquarters in Salt Lake on Sunday evening that Fountain Green had subscribed 1U quota ot $25,000. The citizens of that town are to be congratulated forts. on T ON FIRST OF MAY RENEW CONTRACTS The majority of teachers for the next school year in Juab school district have already signed contracts and the district has been able to n't a I a most of the present teaching force, and this in spite of the fact scare. There are yet some vacancies to be filled but Supt. Stewart expects to tyave these filled with good strong teachers be fore the end of the present term.
