EVERYDAY HEROES 4-- Students participate in essay contest Everyday Heroes is an essay writing contest sponsored by the Worth Remembering Olympic Legacy Program. The students of Juab Junior High have an opportunity if chosen as state winners to have their entry posted on the state website, printed in the Deseret News and there will be $500.00 in books donated to the school. The students watched a video that highlights stories of Utah heroes. Then they participated in classroom discussions. Track team places first at Manti Invitational By Melissa Hathaway Mar.-in- Juab County Teen Council attended workshops and meetings, a dance, and they completed a service Juab Middle School announces 3rd All-re- structed the participants w ith rules concerning state facts, service contests, projects and the importance of teamwork. The teens participated in a service project where they made kits for children in local hospitals, tied quilts, and made spring door decorations On March 12 and 13 several members of the Teen Council attended a Teen Council retreat held in Cedar City. The 5th grade: Tyrell Aagard, Ashley Adams, Destrilee Jordan Anderson, Brean-nAndrews, Joelle Ashworth, Shelbie Ballow, Gustavo a Diego tied for the region title Region Drama was held Wednesday and Thursday. The following students qualified for State: In Dramatic Interpretation, Lynley Peterson, Jacey Keith, Chance Kendall, Danielle Hathaway, third place. In Humorous Interpretation, Tyler Oplin, Spencer On last Monday, Juab High School played Ranked Grand in a Varsity double-heade- r at home. In the first game Juab was in a very close game and the game was scoreless for 5 innings. Then in the 6th inning Juab scored 5 runs to break the game open. The key hits in the inning were mond, who pitched the last inning allowing 0 earned runs and hit. The outstanding hitters were Colby Park with a triple. 2 singles, and a RBI; Dustin Jarrett 1 Trevor Jones with a lead off single, Dustin Jarrett with a RBI. and Dan Thomas and Chett Coombs each with a 2 RBI single. Juab ended up winning by the score of Zac Diamond pitched a complete game allowing only 1 run, 4 hits, and 7 strikeouts. Juab had 5 runs, hits, and 1 error. Grand had 1 run, 4 1 error. and hits, In the second game Juab had an early lead, but couldn't hold it and lost 13-Juab had 8 runs, 14 1 with a double. 2 singles, and 2 RBFs; Dan Thomas with a double, 2 singles and a RBI: Atlee Osborne and Trevor Jones each with 2 singles; and Justin Jones and Tyler Olsen each with a single and RBI. On last Tuesday, Juab traveled to Salt Lake City to play Rowland Hall. Juab 5-- defeated Rowland Hall 17-Juab scored 10 runs in the 3rd inning to leave little doubt about the outcome. The outstanding pitchers were Jordan Guillory, who 1 hits, and 4 errors. Grand had 13 runs, 9 hits, and 2 errors. The outstanding pitchers were Colby Park, who pitched 3 innings allowing 5 runs and 4 hits; Dan Thomas, who pitched 3 innings allowing 2 earned runs, 4 hits; and Zac Dia pitched play Neglected Husbands Sewing Club took first place with straight superior ratings and all three judges ranked it as the first place play. The following play cast members won awards: Johnathan Terry Best Supporting Actor, Derrick Fulton Best Actor, Lynley Peterson Best Actress. Brett Hansen with a double and a RBI; and Tyler Olsen, Kellen Nielsen, and Kevin Greenhalgh each with a single and RBI. On last Friday Juab traveled and played a very good North Summit Team. Juab played one of its best games of the year and won 13-- in 5 innings. Zac Diamond was outstanding and pitched a He had allowed no earned runs and had 5 strikeouts. Juab was excellent on defense having only 1 error. The outstanding fielders were Dan Thomas, Justin Jones, Atlee Osborne and Trevor Jones. The outstanding hitters were Dan Thomas with a double, 3 singles, and 2 RBIs; Trevor Jones with 2 doubles, a single and 2 RBIs; Dustin Jarrett with a triple, double and 2 RBI's; and Colby Park with a triple. The Juab Varsity Baseball Team next plays at home against Altamont on Tuesday, April 13.
