All of Juab County west of U. S. highway 6 has been designated again this year as a drought area. according to Ray Burtenshaw, Juab agricultural agent. This means that sheep and cattle operators who winter livestock in the designated area can make application for feed grains irom government surplus feed stocks to feeds their foundat ion herds. No feeds may be obtained for animals in the fattening lot, however. The livestock must be fed in the designated area and the applicant must derive his major income from livestock, and livestock must be his major enterprise in order to be eligible for the assistance. Ap. plication must be made in the county where livestock is fed. Sur plus stocks of feed grains as corn, grain sorghums, oats and barley (but not wheat) are made available through established feed and grain dealers in the county. Any eligible farmer or rancher in tho designated area who desires to take part In the program must mike application to his local F. 11. A. committee. Application forms are now available and may he received from the county agent's office, ASC office or FHA office. The applications are then passed on by the local FHA committee for eligibility. He then gets from his local county Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation office a "purchase order" indicating the approved quantify of grain. He buys from a local feed dealer of his choice using his purchase order to pay part of his bill which b $1.00 on each hundred weight. The dealer delivers the amount of grain from his own stocks and presorts tho purchase certificates to t!s? CCC to replenish his stocks of grain.
