Other amusements were singing,(when Mollies hweet voice was heard to good advantage) and sweet music which the sperrys are so noted for was part of the evenings program. The writer was much attracted with the wonderful musical ability shown by the nine year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. II. Sperry of Mantf. In thig time they have built thirty miles of fence, ten mi'es of ca nal, broke up COO acres of Land, sown JlOo acres of alfalfa and drained 700 acres of swamp lands. In 1903 $1,000 ws expended driving for artesian water on high ground where Mr. McCune intends to build u handsome residence. This venture was hardly as successful as Mr. McCune hah hoped it would be, but he is satisfied that plenty of water will be had at greater depth. The railroad runs four miles on this farm with two switches facilitating the handling and ship ping of wlmt is produced. Mo:t of the water is secured from a reservoir known as Chicken Creek Lake and during the past years of shortage of water they have not been handicapped for irrigation as has been tho case almost everywhere in the State.
