Whitney, a cattleman from Evanston, was in town yesterday, au.l told of a sale of yearlings he made recently at figures that are in advauce of any received so Jar by local dealers. Mr. Whitney sold 400 steers at the round price of $31.50, The reason for the high prie was that the critters were all well fed and as fat as butter balls. They were much heavier than the ordinary yearling steer, and as a consequence, were much sought after by the buyers. It seems that some persons, who have nothing better to do, make it a special business of trying to create, without foundation, a smallpox scare.
