Crane, last week turned over a check in the amount of $50,000 to 'the Moon Lake Water Users Association as initial payment for the departments participation jn the construction of Big Sandwash or Upalco Reservoir in Duchesne County. The construction project, already underway, . is being underwritten in part by the Department of Fish and Game and the Utah Water and Power Board. In return forjthe departments $100,000 participation in this project, anglers will be assured of a conservation pool in the reservoir which' will sustain fish life and provide recreation even in the driest years. The conservation pool will occupy the lower 1200 acre feet acre of the 12,000 foot capac- ity reservoir and will encompass 80 surface acres. Additional funds amounting to approximately $35,000 were allocated to the Utah State Department of Fish and Game Ltnited States last wee kby-.thBureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife for additional conservation projects. Newest projects to be approved are for reconstruction work at the departments hatchery facility near Panguitch and for participation in the construction of Blanding Reservoir. Total cost of the two projects listed by the department as 36,000 for the Panguitch batchr ery jo band $40,000 for participation in the Blanding Reservoir. Funds for the two projects are provided by the Accelerated Public Works Program, designed to increase employment opportunities and further conservation programs. Tre federal government will pay one-haof the cost of the two projects aimed at "improving wildlife conditions. o accelerated Other. approved Pubiic Works Programs in Utah include enlargement of the Le Baron Reservoir on th& Fishlake National Forest to form a 24 acre trout lake, big game range improvement work in Emery, uchesne, Wasatch and Sanpete ounties, and construction , of a boat house and equipment starage facility at the Provo Boat Harbor. .Federal funds previously, allocated vfor these projects under the APW program come to an amount equal to $66,813, f the total cost of the programs. The streams are listed in the 1964 angling proclamation as follows: Logan River proper downstream from Temple Fork of Logan River in Cache Coun Fork River tay, Blacksmith proper downstream from the Anderson Ranch Bridge i n Cache County and Weber River roper dpwnstream from Echo am. The Duchesne River in Duchesne County long open to whitefish fishing during the winter months will be closed to the taking of these fish beginning Jan. 1 because . of extensive ThVoe Q damage caused by floods last spring. Whitefish limits during the winter season remain as in the past with bag and possession set at 25 fish on all waters except the Weber River. Limit on the Weber is ten fish. . Some 46,000 game harvest questionnaires are now being mailed from Utah Department of Fish and Game offices. Eleven thousand will go to upland game bird hunters and 35,000 to, deer hunters. The department urged sportsmen receiving one .of these questionnaires to answer the quesreturn tions accurately and .hem promptly, since tabulation of the requested information plays an important role in determining the annual harvest and the future management policy on Utah game species. 6-v- $5.95 $8.95 dt 12-vo- lt Generators, Starters Weslem Battery Between State & Main, 13th South HU7-776- 9 WANTED Housewives need money to pay bills?
