When school was dismissed, they were invited to the teachers homes for dinner. The teachers represented 10 countries: Tanganlka, Norway, Italy,' Mexico, Laos, Finland, Brazil, Bolivia, Basutoland and the Bahamas. Their visit to Utah began on Sept. 17 and will end on Dec. 15. Tiey are sponsored by the International ProTeachers Development gram.. Each teacher had the opportunity to instruct a class at the school during the afternoon. Students prepared in advance for the teacher assigned to their class by studying the teachers native country; learning a song in the language of that country and when possible, a few phrases such as hello, nice to meet you and goodby. According to C. Elmo Turner, Cottonwood Heights School principal, his school is the first one to follow up hosting the visiting teachers with invitations to its teachers' homes for dinner. Some o( the foreign teachers fay they have been individually invited into American homes but this is the first time they were asked as a group. Plans New Golf Course Construction .of a new nine-hol- e golf course between Vine St. and 9th East and 4800 and 5600 South will soon begin, according to Paul S. Rose, intendent of the Salt Lake Department: After four years rl negotia tions the county recreation dehas app. oved an partment agreement to lease the 107 acres of land (to use as a golf course) from the Salt Lake City Water Department for $1,000 a .year for 50 years. The agreement is being eon sidcrcd by the Salt Lake City Commission. Approval is expect County-Recre- ation ed soon. Mr Rose said that major de velopmcnls on the course are expected to begin early in 1063. The provisions of the lease stipulated that the course will he completed within four years. The plans call for a clubhouse the property. In addition negotiations are under way to .acquire some privately-owneland adjacent to the course to construct a three-pa- r course.
