Department of Agriculture, the American farmer was producing enough food for himself and four others. One hundred years has gone by and the farmer today produces enough for himself and 25 others. These advances of farmer efficiency are responsible for the productivity of American agriculture and continues to amaze the world and confound the communists. Rapheal, a graduate of Granite High School, was one of two top honors winners in the fifth annual Science Fair Metropolitan chosen to represent Utah at Seattle. He is the son of Mr & Mrs Frances F. Belgique, 423 East 2700 South. His first place award, presented by the U.S. Army, entitles him to an expense paid wee at the Army Research Center in Virginia to study laboratory techniques there. The winning entry is a two engine model, weighing 3 imunds with full fuel load. It has ah air speed of an average 100 miles per hour during a sustained flight of 15 minutes duration. It is capable of performing any maneuver of aircraft designed for aerobatics. Rapheal conceived the design and cquiped it with his own guidance controls. He contends that his plane is unusual in the field in that there are few models built in the multi-engin- e category. The reason for this is that it is ten times as difficult to guide radio controlled, full l model aircraft as it is to pilot an actual small aircraft. It takes more hours of practice to fly such a model than it docs to solo the real thing." The young graduate knows whereof he speaks. Since he was )G and qualified to fly small aircraft, he has flown a Cessna 172, Champ Piper Cub. and others. He has been interested in aviation in all its phases since he was about 7. He hopes to become an electronics engineer in the guidance equipment field. In the men-timhe is financing the advancement of his interests through servicing radio controlled aircraft, radios, television sets, and other electrical household aplianccs.
