Horman purchased the building about a month ago with plans to subdivide it into a number of small shops, to be leased to individual store owners. It will be similar to a department store, but each department will be owned by separate individuals, Horman said. Horman, who also owns the building occupied by Keith Warshaw & Co., has built about 14 shopping centers in the western United States, including Valley Fair Mall and Cottonwood Mall in Salt Lake. The 50,000 square-foo- t W.T. Grant store is a sound structure, Horman said, and will be kept largely in its original form. He bought the building because it was vacant and for sale. Its seldom a building on Main Street is up for sale. And this is one of the best sites on Main Street. It is a 100 percent location. Horman explained the location has been rated by large department stores as a 100 percent location because it receives 100 percents of the sales volume between 2nd and 3rd South on Main Street. He believes it will be easier to find a number of small tenants than it would be to find one large tenant and that the mall more interesting than a concept is department store. Kaiser Aluminum Moves Highway Products Division; Plans for Expansion Charted Kaiser Aluminum has relocated its highway products division facility in Utah from Sandy to Salt Lake City and expanded operations to include manufacturing capabilities, according to Terry ONeil, regional sales manager. Sandy was used as a stocking yard for our various products, ONeil said. At location on our new Redwood Road, Kaiser has the equipment necessary to produce riveted aluminum and steel culvert with diameters up to 96 inches. Eventually, we hope to add additional machinery to produce spiral culvert. Riveted and spiral aluminum and steel corrugated pipe from the Kaiser Aluminum plant is used in numerous applications, but mostly for culvert, storm sewer, and drainage purposes in conjunction with roadway construction. Kaiser Aluminum employs about 15 manufacturing and sales personnel at the Salt Lake City plant. All fittings for the aluminum and steel pipe are welded and cut by re Cobramatic also produces aluminum structural plate, Shore-A(R) marine retaining wall ll MIG BUSINESS LOANS. MORTGAGE LOANS. SAVINGS ACCOUNTS (HIGH INTEREST) REMIT Continued from page lb on the sale of truck tires. We could run short of some common sizes in passenger tires this winter if we get a lot of snow before the end of the year. The amount of snow we get before January directly affects the demand for snow tires because most people either buy before then or else they dont buy snow tires at all. Dennis White, district sales manager for Firestone, said that Firestones stock of snow tires throughout the state is extremely short. Taking a most pessimistic view regarding the shortage of snow tires for trucks, he said, Our stock of winter truck tires is very low, lowest of all tires that we carry, and if demand for these tires is high, I think a lot of truck tire buyers will just have to do without this winter. . In addition to the decreased availability of tires this winter, consumers can expect to pay approximately 12 to 16 percent more for tires of all brands because of wage increases brought about by the rubber strike. White said. 486-815- 1 WHOS RESPONSIBLE? ...To see that 25,000 youngsters get first-han- d exposure to careers in the community each year? ...To answer more than 1,600 inquiries each month seeking statistical, economic and tourist information about Salt Lake? ...For spearheading downtown improvements which include the First South and Main Street beautification projects? ...For arousing public opinions on such issues as Common Situs Picketing.
