Even stocks that heretofore were considered "dead have enjoyed price appreciation in the past few weeks. Speculation has been partially spurred by rumors that the federal government will take action to encourage energy production. But despite the bullish surge, experts fear the advance will be short lived unless the feds establish a unified energy program. Members of the Sunshine Shareholders Committee, waging a proxy fight to replace managment of Sunshine Mining Co., and the Sunshine Co. itself this week played legal badmiton, tossing allegations back and forth in U.S. District Court. By virtue of an employment agreement with its director Charles E. Schwab, chairman of the committee. Golden Cycle of Colorado Springs is now entangled in the suit. .70 B Babcock Ind .35 .625 1.625 .625 7.875 .875 1.75 .90 7.375 3.00 .38 5.25 4.00 .25 .01 2.75 2.875 AstorHndpmts 2.875 .50 Astrocom 2.875 Astrosystems Atlanta LaSalle 3.125 Big Creek Apex 2.65 Big Indian Uran .33 BigPineyO&G .30 4.25 5.50 5.875 5.875 .33 .02 3.25 4.25 6.125 3.25 3.125 3.125 3.375 1.00 3.375 3.625 2.125 1.00 7.875 5.875 .75 .03 ASG Com Assoc Mad Cos AVM Com 28.00 10.375 17.75 10.625 Amer Pet Co .15 2.25 .10 3.00 .06 7.625 .15 Burnup & Sims 3.75 Continued on page Jive 2.125 1.25 15.25 4.125 The Wrath of Government is the only explanation Western United Resources in Denver can give for the rash of bad business that beset the company in recent months. From a profit of $500, 000 last year, they will record a $400,000 loss in 1976. Delay caused by the EPA in labeling one of their major insecticides cost them over $1.5 million in contracts and another $125,000 in legal expenses. They're bound to win a $600,000 suit against Ethyl Corp, said president Phillip Mozer. It's our turn. Whats good for the goose is good for the gander, ''Midland, Texas mayor Ernest Angelo told HUD when they applied for a parking space at the municipal airport. Angelo returned the application, asking among other things, that they submit three executed and 14 confirmed copies of the application, and a genealogical table for everyone who will operate said vehicle so Midland can ascertain there will be precisely an equal percentage of whites, blacks, and other minorities as well as women and the elderly. And that is only the beginning of Midland's Revenge. Shareholders of Consolidated Capital have a chance to recoup some hard felt losses with a recent tender offer made by the company for 90,000 shares at $6 each. |
