Schlueter figures approx- imately 40 percent of the total gross budget has remained in Utah for services, labor, lodging, food and other items. Beginning in 1970, Schlueter said $11,319,610 remained in Utah by the movie industry. Right now people are taking home smaller parcels, he said, usually the kinds of things they would use just for dinner that night. The store has been open since April 7, and grocery sales are on the increase, according to Warshaw. But even though the store has parking facilities and carry out service, the grocery department is not being used as it would if it was in the suburbs. Business is fairly good throughout other areas of the store, Warshaw said, especially in the clothing and sporting goods departments. Warshaw explained the stores highly varied merchandise contrast with each other, and the concept is still different and new to most shoppers. He said it is yet too early to tell exactly how the store is doing. |
