Cannegeiter Is Candidate For City Commission William Cannegeiter, 398 Vine Street, Murray, announces his candidacy for the office of city commissioner in the general election tc be held in November. "Bill" as he is generally known by his many friends, has been a resident of this city for the past forty years and for thirty one years he has been emnlnvp by the Union Pacific Railroad company. Mr. Cannegeiter has previously held positions in the city, having been elected as the first auditor under the commission form of government. He also served as city treasurer. He is a mpmher of the Woodmen of the World, having been secretary of the local camp continuously for the past thirty-si- x years. He is also a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and has served this society in various capacities. If elected, Mr. Cannegieter pledges himself to fulfill the duties of his office efficiently and well and will always work to the best interests of the people of Murray City. . The colonies fought the Revolutionary War with England to prove their independence After severing their connections with England, the colonies needed a form of government. A committee led by John Dickinson prepared a plan of government under the Articles of Confederation. It was found suitable and was made law on March 1, 1781 The Articles of Confederation proved to be weak and were a disappointment to the people. The mam reason for its failure during the eight years it functioned was that each state was like an independent nation. There was merely a bond of friendship them.
