McMillan Addresses Local Mention "A Greater Murray League' BUSINESS POSSIBILITIES OF OUTLINED (MURRAY S GATHERING OF AND PROFESSIONAL E MEN AND WOMEN. Murray City Firemen's Hall was the assembling point for "A C ratter Murray League" on Thursday evening, May 8th. A giHKl sized crowd was in attendance with a number of visitors among those present The principal feature of the evening was an address by I). A. McMillan, President of The First National Bunk of Murray, who took as a subject, "The Business Possibilities of Murray." The remarks of Mr. McMillan were received with marked atten-tlo- u and evidently made a decided Impression oq the memliera. Few of Murray business men are fully , luformed on the trade conditions In their territory and quite a shock was evident at the Information gtved by IX A. McMillan that his bank in one mouth handled over fiflea hundred thousand dollurs in checks by Murray jHHiple. Very evidently a great deal of Murray business is going thru the hands of other merchants. Mr. McMillan gave several valuable suggestions and among other Ideas recommended was a stricter und more exact method of handling the old bugaboo of credit granting. Proper safeguarding of credit and the great value of good credit was particularly stressed by the speaker with a few sidelights on the uncomfortable jHJsltlon often arrived at by those who credit in haste and worrj at leisure. Faith in Murray and her business and professional men and women was expressed by Mr. McMillan and he stated that be expected seeing the city make substantial the progress in the future as in past.
