D. seminary have been petitioned for a new Murray seminary building, Frank McGhie, local school principal announced Wednesday. The new structure would be of brick construction, replacing the present remodeled frame house, Mr. McGhie said. While no indication has been forthcoming on what action might be expected by the general authorities, the local principal said he was certain the project would be accepted and that construction would commence as soon as definite plans could be drawn up. "The largest enrollment in history of the Murray seminary now totaling 163 students," Mr. McGhie said, "has made it quite definitely apparent that a new and larger quarters must be provided. Prospects are that the enrollment will be even larger next year. We hope that by adding new rooms to our building, the junior seminary, now using the regular school rooms, might be provided with their own rooms, thus allowing more students in both departments." Six class presidents have been elected by the students. They are Austin Simper, Elbert Parker, Charles Hansen, Wendall Watts, and Phyllis Wallin. Vice presidents include Zeola Peterson, Rosa Barrett, Faye Baker, Deana Fugate and June Meyers. S. church Work has been going steadily forward on the construction of the first unit of the Intermoun-tai- n Producers Cooperative, 700 Vine street, since early in the summer. The canning factory, part of the first unit contemplated, had progressed far enough for the inof modern canning stallation equipment, and facilities for the handling of large quantities of vegetables, fruits, and meats, was complete and in operation in time for the canning season. The canning factory is in charge of Mrs. Beatrice Martin,, and while still incomplete, has been turning out thousands of cans of vegetables and fruits for busy housewives of this community. When completely finished and equipped the factory will have a capacity of 15,000 cans daily. According to the manager, Mr. Lowell B. Wallace, the community cooperative is a simple and inexpensive plan for conserving the physical energy of the housewife, as well as for preserving all surplus vegetables, fruits and meats, by utilizing the facilities of the factory for these purposes. The woman who is too busy, or who wishes to avoid the tiresome and mussy job of home canning, may take her garden products, and even her meat to the factory, with or without cans, and return in a day or two and take them home, all canned by the latest approved scientific method. Everything is furnished, sugar, heat, labor, and even the cans if desired, at a price probably less than they could do the work in their own home. Mr. Wallace has had many years' experience in the canning industry, and sees a great future for the community cooperative idea, an idea we have heard much of during recent years. A tentative board of directors has been nominated, and a permanent body will te elected by October 15. Those acting in this capacity at present are, L. H. Baldwin of Salt Lake; Mr. Thom as Martin, Murray, Mrs. Beatrice Martin, Murray; E. O. Hamblin, Murray; J. M. Zundel, Salt Lake; L. B. Wallace, Murray; William Holding, Salt Lake; N. D. VOLUME 47 Football Schedule Many of our football fans, as well as our students, wonder why Granite does not meet Jordan in its final game, as has been the tradition.
