All work In post offices will be 8iiSKnded from 12 o'clock mid21 to 12 o'clock night, midnight December 2."lli, except SH'clal Delivery service and the regular huliday collections and diss mail. Incompatches of ing mall will not be worked during that period. Parcels repulre more time to reach their destination than letters because all trains that carry letters do not carry parcels, and parcels may be unloaded ut terminals for redistribution. After arrival at destination. It requires much more time to distribute parcels than It does letters. The volume of mail Is so great at this season of the year that It Is impossible for the regular employees to handle It, so many inexperienced men will be employed, who, of course, cannot do the work of1 regulars. The dates may appear to be early, but years of experience have demonstrated that parcels mailed at the last hour are caught In the crush at the big centers of distribution, and frequently not delivered until after Christmas. The public U warned that It seals must not place Christmas upon the front or address side of mall matter. The strictest observance of this rule will be carried out and any violation menus that the paikages will be returned to the sender. This emphatically applies to mail Intended for distribution outside the borders of the united States. Wrap In heavy paper, tie seenra-ly- . address plainly, put no writing inside except a slip containing the address for use in case the tag lost or the wrnpor damaged, and place the name and address of the sender In the tipix-- r left hand corner of the parcel. It Is permiss-llb- e to write on the parcel 'DO NOT OPEN UNTIL CHRISTMAS'. If the parcel contains an article of a or fragile, nature It should be so endorsed on the address side. When a parcel Is presented for mailing the fender should be prepared to give description of the contents. The postal regulations require this.
