Rose Show Most CITY COMMISSION GIVES FAST Appreciates Murray Successful Yet Held Fire Department SERVICEON WATER LINE BREAK Wednesday night the City Commissioners and City employes gathered at the mouth of Big Cottonwood canyon after every possible detail of preparation had been made and In a united effort made per manent reivair or tl;e City's pipe line which had been washed out ten days before. The water was turned out of the line during the night and by morning It had again been turned into the line. Every effort was made to keep the water In the line as long as possible and to speed repairs In order that It might be again turned Into the line at the earliest possible moment. Credit Is due the suporlvsors and workmen in the systematic and ssedy repair which they made while flip City enjoyed its regular goes! night's sleep. The long dry siell which Is being experienced by the City and the valley Is having its effect on the City water pressure. While the water lines are kept as full as the water supply will permit, yet the pressure In some parts of the City Is not the Is'st. Tills Is largely due to the fact that the demand for water is so much greater than the average year. There is no doubt that the City needs either an In crease In it.s water supply or addi tional reservoir capacity in which to store and conserve every possible bit of water the supply would now !ermlt. Both are desirable. How ever, the low pressure on the lines Is not altogether caused by an Insufficient supply of water In the lines; It is largely due to the fact that everliody Is in need of more than a normal supply of water and conscqiintly greater friction Is la th lines. When all the lines at the lower end are open the power which ordinarily would serve to produce higher pressure for sprinkling is largely consumed in an additional friction up the line. If Mother Nature would lend us a little more moisture so that our culinary and lawn water needs would return to a normal demand, we would at once notice an Increase In our water pressure. TO ORGANIZE JUNIOR BASEBALL TEAM Junior baseball team to repres ent Murray In the American legion league will be organized in Murray The league is sponsored by the Midvale Tost of the American Iglon nnd Includes Midvale. A MURRAY SECOND WARD The May festival given by the Ward Primary was well attended and greatly enjoyed by all. The theme of genealogy was carried out, the different nations being portrayed by groups of prim ary children with song and dunce. Master Kenneth Lester leading each group on the stage, carrying their country's flag. Miss Helen Mallory, as the grand daughter, was very fine, as she sang In her clear, sweet vobs'. The boys' flag drill was very N'autiful. as they npieared In their white suits, waving the colored flags of the various nations. Miss Vnsta Johnson was very much in her Irish tinnitsT. "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling." which She also she sang beautifully. gave a very clever tap dance. As time was limited, it was Impossible for her to respond to the Insistent call of the audience for an encore number. Other numbers on the program were much appreciated and the entire program indicated that neither time nor hard work had Iss-- spar ed to make the affair a success. The smoke was pouring thru the roof at the time the call was made, and with the strong South wind blowing, the proscct of saving the Hisbop's house was not any too bright. Hut the Istys, with their equipment and fighting togs, soon appeared on the scene, and in an orderly and efficient manner, soon had the fire under control with very little damage to the Inside of the house, ns a result of the water.
