Including Hydro y 1'lant, Distribution Lines and Plant are considered the sales of electric energy have equalized these minis, except $(1,004.31 and 'the citizens of this district have secured their service at one half the prevailing rates over a period i of 1(1 years. Truly the Murray Electric Ikv ; part men t is a reimirkn,'y fine in-- j vestment and should le snfetruard-- ; ed In every isissibie manner. An institution that supplies our citizens with electric scrvlc? ; at half price and practically pays J for Itself In Id years and show assets of the department now holds s Is almost a miracle of profit to our j Aux-.llinr- people. t .' Let the glad tidings be broad-- j casted far and wide. THE ELEC-- i TWO PLANT PAYS and PAYS and PAYS ! Flower Club Elects Officers 0I 11 UUUunlU cost of the Power Plant on DeeemjTr 31, 1928, was $2.0,. 189.i8 of this sum $128,375.90 was realized from a Iwwd Issue and the issue of notes. This leaves a Jin lance of $15,814.08 that was paid for by the Cl.ty and the Power Plant Itself. The Plant is short $0,094.34 of reimbursing the City for the cash advanced which deducted from $151,814.08 leaves $140,719.74 as the wist of of the paid for out of the oieratlng revenue. .. The question may lie asked as to how the Plant could pay $140,719.74 for construction when only $104,000.00 profit was made. The depreciation accounts charged to ocratliig are not paid in actual cash, but represent the decline in the value of the Plant as a result of wearing out thru geenratiiig, prislucing and distributing the electricity to customers, therefore the amount shown each year was available for to construct new facilities, pay off obexs'iidlture and It was exs-udeligations, etc. Summarizing the situation the City has advanced over $0,ii.oo to was not $so,ooo the Power Plant that has not leen rejHild to date. Tin-rtaken from the Power Plant funds and used In other City Departments as stated by the Committee. As a matter of fact the Power Plant is short incident to $0.(Mi.oo of reimbursing the City for the amounts exs-mlcthe Power Plant activities. RcsMclfully submitted, WORSLEY & FOUMAN, will le By R. G. However up to Decemlier 31, 1928, the Power every one present some seeds of a new hardy salmon colored poppy, named "Papaver Pllosum." followed LziU Plant had not repaid the City's advances by $0,094.34. The confusion existing in the minds of the citizens of Murray In regard to the Eelctrlc Light Plant is caused largely by the misleading reisirt of the committee of which Mr. J. W. Mcllenry. was chairman. Mr. Mcllenry and Mr. Wallace called nim me and asked how much profit the Electric Light Plant had mads during the last few years. I gave them the information for the years usn which I hud rcirts on file in my officeThis Information together with the profit and loss of the Plant since its construction is shown in our Exhibit "W." Since starting oierution the net profit of the Plant was $104,399.38 This is shown on our Exhibit "B". It will be noted that depreciation was not computed fur 1914 and 1915. The information was compiled from the audit reports on file In the City Offices. Had the depreciation leen considered in 1914 and 1915 the results would have shown a profit of less than $109,000.00. The depreciation was later set up. but as Mr. Uuuiel did not show it in his reisirt I left it out of the summary on Exhibit "It." so that (he results shown thereon would agree with the resrts on file. The committee, of which Mr. Mcllenry was chairman, either inten tionnlly or thru misunderstanding published a reisirt stating that the plant had made over $80,000.00 which had liee'n (wed by the City (Vninils-sloto pnv expenses of other City Departments. Mr. Mcllenry nor Mr Wallace asked what had liecome of the money realized from the Plant "HOW MTCII HAD THE POWER PLANT oiieration but merely. MADE". The cash realized from operntlng the Power Plant was used to pay the exitenses of oierating the Plant, for additional construction of the Plant, pay off obligations Incurred, and to pay the Interest on such obligations. This is all clearly set out In our Exhibit "A" accompanying this Certified PuiUlc Accountants, Salt Lake City, Utah, March 19, 10J29. The Honorable Mayor and City Commission, Murray City, 1'tah. Gentlemen : In accordance with your request we have compiled the information in regard to the Murray City Electric Light and Power Plant, from the original construction to and including January 1, 1929. V present in our Exhibit "A" a summary of the Cash lteecipts' ami IMsJrtirsenients for the period. columns we present the cash received by the Vnder the "Rw-eiptThe amounts shown City Treasurer from the Electric in column one includes collections for Uie sale of power and electricity, meter deisislts. salo of material and labor, and Uie charges to the departments of Murray City for power, material and labor. Therefore the sums wer the total amount that would have been received by the Light DMirtnient if the City had drawn warrants for all claims. The City paid these bills by crediting the Light Deitartment and charging the cost of the service rendred up to the appropriations of the department receiving the service. This accompllshd the same result as rlrawlng warrants for the claims. In column two we present the cash borrowed to construct the plant. During December! 1912. the City Issued $00,000.00 in bonds to pay iu part for th original construction of the Power Plant Column three covers the total receipts from all sources. Columns four to ten shows the amounts disbursed by the City for purposed Incident to the construction and operation of the Power Plant. It will be noted there was expended on construction of the Hydro- Electric Plant, the Transmission and Distribution System, and the Auxiliary Plant, a total of $247.0X9.98. To this we must add the cost of the Progress Company lines purchased, or $32,100.00 making a total cost of the system to December 31, 1928, of $280,189.98. as labor, materials and supplies, act The operating expenses ually i mi Id out in cash, were $157,124.61. The Interest paid on the bonded debt of $(10,000.00 was $44,758.33. The Interest paid on the Progress Company notes and the Burton Loan was $9,119.14.
